The Scottish actress explains what happened with the Star Wars wig stories
Speaking at last night’s UK premiere of Guardians of The Galaxy, Karen Gillan was quizzed by the BBC’s entertainment correspondent, Lizo, about the confusion surrounding her hair and the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII.

For some reason, the Internet went into overdrive surrounding the idea that Gillan – who stars in Marvel’s new movie, Guardians – had donated her hair to J.J Abram’s Star Wars: Episode VII. She dispelled those rumours, though, calling the whole thing a “miscommunication”.

A lengthily trailer for the new series has just been released, as well as a semi naked ‘selfie’ from Karen herself, meaning we’re all abuzz about her latest offering. The brand new, full length international trailer has been released for the upcoming summer blockbuster.
Prepare to check out the new trailer for the upcoming summer blockbuster, Guardians of the Galaxy, which is due to open from the end of July. James Gunn's visualisation of Marvel's lesser-known comic book series recruits a stellar cast in an outer space setting with jaw-dropping special effects and rib-tickling one-liners.
Chris Pratt takes the lead alongside Zoe Saldana, Lee Pace, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Josh Brolin, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close Benicio Del Toro and Dave Bautista in what looks to be one of the action highlights of summer 2014.
In a nutshell, Pratt's adventurer, Peter Quill, gets stranded in space and unites a team of unlikely ex-con aliens in order to mount a defence against the cosmic threat of Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe.

Peter Quill runs into some trouble when he discovers an unusual looking orb that happens to be hunted by the merciless admiral Ronan and his army of miscreants. He is an Earthling; an unusual race within his neighbourhood in which he grew up after being removed for his home planet as a child. Naming himself the Star-Lord, he likes to think he's one heck of a superhero - but he's about to meet his match (or should we say 'matches'?). After being arrested by Ronan's people, he is greeted by four other alien outlaws. First there is the enormous Drax the Destroyer who is determined to use his supernatural strength to avenge his murdered family; then there's cyborg Gamora, the daughter of Thanos (an even bigger villain in this story); Rocket, a psychotic gun-toting raccoon; and half-man half-tree Groot. They may be distrustful of each other, but they've got to stick together if they want to save the universe from certain annihilation.
Since when did superhero films have to be serious? Marvel apply comedy to comics with 'Guardians Of The Galaxy', which is based on the original comics by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning. The movie has been directed by James Gunn ('Super', 'Slither', 'PG Porn') and co-written by Nicole Perlman and is due for UK release on July 31st 2014.
While using every horror movie cliche in the book, this film cleverly tells a bracingly original story that will have genre fans squirming in their seats. It's rare that a movie can actually scare us anymore, and while this one is a bit over-serious, it playfully twists old tricks to confound expectations.
The story centres on a brother and sister: 21-year-old Tim (Brenton Thwaites) has just been collected by his big sister Kaylie (Karen Gillan) after spending 10 years in a psychiatric hospital. She tells him that they only have a few days to make good the promise they made a decade ago: to destroy a mirror that they believe caused the unexplained violent deaths of their parents (Katee Sackhoff and Rory Cochrane). Kaylie has everything ready, including cameras to capture the truth about this evil mirror and a fail-safe plan to destroy it before it can lure them into its murderous clutches.
The film inventively flickers back and forth in time between the present day and the fateful earlier events, when the parents and siblings (played as children by Annalise Basso and Garrett Ryan Ewald) have their own freaky encounter with this enormous gothic mirror. In both timelines, plants wither, pets go nuts and strange figures are glimpsed in the shadows. But the mirror's most dangerous trick is to fracture reality, and now past and present seem to be merging for Tom and Kaylie. Director-cowriter Mike Flanagan fluidly weaves together both timelines in eye-catching ways, continually shifting the emotional tone as well, just to keep us off balance.

Peter Quill is a fearless Earthling pilot who rather proudly proclaims himself to be an outlaw, going by the nickname Star-Lord. As a child, he was taken from his home planet and forced to live around various alien races, but even he is in for a surprise when he is captured by merciless hunters led by the evil admiral Ronan after he tries to make off with an extraordinary orb. It is during his imprisonment that he meets four other intrepid outlaws. There’s Drax the Destroyer, a man of muscle hellbent on avenging the tragic murders of his family; Gamora, a green-skinned cyborg who is the rebellious daughter of Ronan’s boss Thanos; Rocket, a genetically modified raccoon with incredible firearm dexterity; and Groot, a half-man half-tree creature who knows little about the technological world. Despite their reluctance, the five must join together to save the universe from Thanos’ dastardly plans.

Groot, the tree-like creature, Vin Diesel voices in the upcoming ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ appears to have won over the cast of the film. In a special Q&A session on Monday (19th May), Diesel and director James Gunn spoke affectionately about Groot with Diesel claiming the role helped him overcome the death of Paul Walker.

If the trailer for Guardians made no sense, here's the brief on the team.
By now nobody is questioning Disney and Marvel’s decision to invest in the Avengers franchise. It started out a bit rough - 2008’s The Incredible Hulk is still a mostly ignored part of the cinematic universe – but by Iron Man 3, the series was grossing billions. Now that Marvel is on sure footing and the cinematic universe has an established fanbase, the studio is making the next move with Guardians of the Galaxy.
Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the most aniticpated movies of the year
On Tuesday the studio released a trailer and it looked like a hot mess. Granted, a hot mess featuring Chris Pratt, but there was also a talking raccoon. It had the unmistakable feel of an 80s sci-fi flick. On that note, here’s what you need to know about GotG’s bunch of A-holes for this movie to make any sense.

The 'Doctor Who' actress' new character will be based on 'My Fair Lady's Eliza Doolittle.
Karen Gillan has further cemented her rising star status within the US having been cast in the lead role in new ABC comedy Selfie. The Scottish actress' break came with her role as assistant Amy Pond in the BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who which was quickly followed by a transition into Hollywood with the part of Nebula, a key villain, in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
Karen Gillan Has Landed The Lead Role In New ABC Comedy, 'Selfie.'
Selfie will be the latest comedy series from the Suburgatory and As Told By Ginger writer Emily Kapnek and will be based on the 1964 Audrey Hepburn movie, My Fair Lady. Gillan's character, Eliza Dooley, will be based on Hepburn's character Eliza Doolittle, who famously receives elocution lessons from a professor so that she can fit into high society.
Peter Quill is a tenacious pilot who was taken away from his home planet Earth as a child to grow up around alien races. Arrogantly nicknaming himself Star-Lord, he finds himself captured by the evil admiral Ronan's ruthless hunters during the attempted theft of a powerful orb. On his arrest, he meets four other criminal eccentrics: muscle man Drax the Destroyer, who is searching for vengeance after the brutal death of his family; the rebellious cyborg Gamora, whose father is Ronan's boss Thanos; a weapon toting, genetically modified racoon named Rocket with better gun skills than most humans; and, the latter's accomplice, tree man Groot. Soon, the group decide to band together in order to protect their galaxy after discovering what the orb is really about to be used for.

So The Tonight Show has Jimmy Fallon. Jimmy Kimmel can trump that with the new "Guardians of the Galaxy" trailer.
With a new competitor in The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel is pulling out all the stops. Last week it was the Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover and on Tuesday, the host unveiled the first full trailer for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy on Jimmy Kimmel Live! A newly buffed up Chris Pratt, fresh off his Lego Movie success, was on hand to introduce the trailer for GotG, in which he also stars. Guardians of the Galaxy is Marvel’s latest venture, which is going to lead into Avengers: Age of Ultron.
As Fallon's rival late night host, Kimmel has had to pull out all the stops lately.
Guardians of the Galaxy follows the adventures of Peter Quill (Pratt), a not entirely law-abiding traveler, who finds himself on the wrong end of a galactic bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To save his skin, Peter is forced into a shaky truce with a quartet of misfits. His survival plan quickly turns into a defense mission, when Peter discovers the power of the orb and the threat it poses to the universe, if it falls into the wrong hands.
Tim Russell is a troubled psychiatric patient who has finally been released from hospital several years after the tragic death of his mother and father - an incident for which he was accused of being responsible. Still fragile, he reconnects with his sister Kaylie who has spent the last few years researching the history of a mysterious 300 year old mirror that both siblings are certain holds an evil sinister enough to have caused their parents' deaths - and most assuredly the deaths of countless previous owners. Their probing into the disturbing phenomena occurring in and around the looking glass proves to be traumatic enough, but when they start experiencing more and more dangerous unexplained happenings, it becomes clear that the vengeful spirit haunting it hasn't finished shedding blood just yet.

What's all this 'Guardians of the Galaxy' talk about then? We cut through the internet's excited babble.
Marvel fans: prepare to get very excited. Those who have no idea what Guardians of the Galaxy is and why they should be very excited: listen up. After what feels like years since we first heard that Marvel were adapting the Guardians of the Galaxy comic book series, we have our first real insight into what James Gunn's summer 2014 movie.
Director James Gunn Gets Fans Excited.
The director tweeted the first image from the upcoming action blockbuster on the 31st December. The intriguing on set snap shows what looks like a police line-up with Zoe Saldana's Gamora, Chris Pratt as Star Lord, Bradley Cooper's Rocket Raccoon, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, and Vin Diesel's Groot.

This may look like a rom-com, with its obvious plotting and over-cute characters, but it's eerily lacking any actual romance or comedy. And there isn't much else to grab onto either, even though the likeable cast do what they can with a superficial script. Sadly, the director never manages to pull it all together.
Set in Glasgow, the story centres on Jane (Gillan), an aspiring author who is tired of rejection letters from publishers about her first novel, a down-beat story about father-daughter gloom. Then she gets an offer from a tiny local publishing house run by sexy Frenchman Tom (Weber) and his goofy assistant Roddy (De Caestecker). And the book is a surprise hit, winning awards and propelling her into rising-star glamour, complete with a flashy new screenwriter boyfriend (Cusick). But as she writes her second book, she gets writer's block due the thought of finishing her contract with Tom. She couldn't possibly be in love with him, could she? Meanwhile, in need of the manuscript, Tom and Roddy try to spark her writing by making her life as miserable as possible.
The film has a choppy structure that makes it impossible for anyone to have a meaningful moment. Every plot point is conveyed with another musical montage featuring colourful Glasgow landmarks and local indie music, all of which is nice to look at even though it leaves us unable to care. And while screenwriter Solomons at least tries to reinvent the standard rom-com structure, he still can't disguise the obvious fact that Jane and Tom are meant for each other from the start. And we also never doubt Jane's awkward attempts to reconcile with her dad (Lewis).

Nebula describes potential crossover as "cool."

In an interview with Total Film, a tentative reporter asked Gillan at the press interview session for her latest movie Not Another Happy Ending about the possibilities of her being involved in Guardians/Avengers crossover. The Guardians of the Galaxy stars were on-hand to promote the movie - still a year off - at Comic Con 2013.
Though it was Thor 2, Breaking Bad and The Hunger Games that made headlines at Comic-Con, the Guardians of the Galaxy gang were about to promote James Gunn's movie, which is still a way off - set for release on August 1, 2014.

Her co-star Lee Pace praised the movie's director, saying: "James Gunn has got a great vision for the movie. He just showed us a little clip of what he's been working on for the past 10 days and it's excellent."
Chris Pratt is bulking up for his role in the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Chris Pratt, the 34-year-old actor who has bagged himself some pretty tasty roles in recent years, is bulking up for his role in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Pratt is the latest movie star to undergo a dramatic physical transformation and posted his progress in an Instragram photo this week.
It's not the first time the Parks and Recreation actor has changed weight for a movie role - he sported a hugely toned physique for his role as a member of Seal Team Six in Kathyn Bigelow's Osama Bin Laden movie 'Zero Dark Thirty' last year.

Mary (Dickie) has fled Ireland with her 15-year-old son Fergal (Bruton) and settled in a squalid Edinburgh housing estate, where she immediately starts scrawling protection spells on the walls in her own blood. And there's good reason, as the shady Cathal (Nesbitt) is hot on her trail, travelling with his brother Liam (McMenamin) under orders to "kill the boy".
