Karen O is releasing a solo album this September.

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman has announced that her debut record, 'Crush Songs', will drop this autumn via The Strokes singer Julian Casablancas' Cult Records.

The music was written between 2006 and 2007 and is described as a ''collection of lo-fi, bedroom recordings''.

Karen explained: ''When I was 27 I crushed a lot. I wasn't sure I'd ever fall in love again. These songs were written and recorded in private around this time.

''They are the soundtrack to what was an ever continuing love crusade. I hope they keep you company on yours.''

A limited vinyl edition of the album will be available pre-release with artwork featuring Karen's own drawings and handwritten lyrics.

Julian commented: ''So excited, lucky and proud to be involved with such a classic album - I just wanna listen to it all day. Karen is an all-time great.''

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs' last album, 'Mosquito', was released in 2013 and the indie rockers have not yet announced plans for new music.
