Kasabian want to be ''as powerful as Led Zeppelin''.

The 'Fire' band have ambitions to pack as much power into their sound as the wide scale 70s rockers, but guitarist Serge Pizzorno wants to marry it with an ultra-modern edge.

He said: ''Futuristic rock 'n' roll music has been the mantra from the start. I want it to be as powerful as Led Zeppelin, but I don't want it to sound like 1971.''

The band have just headlined a huge show at London's Royal Albert Hall in aid of charity Teenage Cancer Trust, and Serge admits they needed a little warming up after having not performed for a while.

He told NME magazine: ''The first rehearsal was a bit... s**t, but then you feel your way back into it. We seem to be getting better as a band. It gets easier. We just tried to turn it into [small venue] the 100 club. It is grand in the Albert Hall, but there's something about turning it on its head and seeing chaos and crowd surfing. I suppose the key is to have no respect for the venue and turn everything up as loud as you can.''
