A sleek and sexy Kate Hudson wowed the red carpet at the New York premiere of her new film Wish I Was Here. She was accompanied on the night by director-cowriter-star Zach Braff as well as costars Donald Faison, Ashley Greene and Joey King. The film is about a 35-year-old man trying to figure out his life, career and family. Look through the full premiere gallery here.
In Los Angeles, Dane Cook, Ed Harris, Julie Bowen, Hal Holbrook, Erik Estrada and Brad Garrett were on hand for the premiere of their new animated film Planes: Fire & Rescue, which was held to benefit the L.A. Meanwhile in London, Britain's Got Talent winner Ashleigh Butler and her dog Pudsey walked the red carpet in Leicester Square for the world premiere of their comedy-adventure Pudsey the Dog: The Movie. They were joined by BGT judge David Walliams, who provides Pudsey's voice in the movie, along with a variety of costars and British celebrities. A new trailer was released for Nick Cave's artistic autobiographical documentary 20,000 Days on Earth. The film looks introspective and lush, exploring Cave's artistic processes and performances in an unusual way. An award winner at Sundance, the film opens in September. There's a full trailer out this week for Disney's animated adaptation of the Marvel comic Big Hero 6, about a teen whose best friend is a balloon-like robot he built. The film looks like it has a very snappy sense of humour, and some big action too. The voice cast includes Maya Rudolph, Alan Tudyk, Genesis Rodriguez and T.J. Miller. Also debuting at Sundance, Laggies is the new film from Lynn Shelton (Your Sister's Sister), starring Keira Knightley as a young woman who hides out with teen Chloe Grace Moretz and her dad Sam Rockwell while she's trying to figure out her life. With a lively new trailer out this week, the film opens in late-September in America and early October in Britain. And finally, a new trailer for Reese Witherspoon's adventure drama Wild was released this week, based on the true story of a reckless woman who, after years of heroin addiction destroys her marriage, makes a split decision to hike more than 1,000 miles on her own. Directed by Jean-Marc Vallee (Dallas Buyers Club), the film looks beautiful and seriously inspirational. It will open in time for awards season. Watch the trailer for Wild here.
