Well Done, Internet, You've Dealt With House Of Cards Spoilers Well

Kate Mara Kevin Spacey Robin Wright Netflix

We’ve come a long way since spoiling the end of The Sixth Sense was the worst thing someone could do. Nowadays, there are millions of ways to ruin plots, deaths and endings, and as a result we’ve become hypersensitive, syphoning genuine rage towards those who let slip that Lost was all a dream. Whoops.

House of Cards season 2Do these two come to loggerheads? Well, watch it and find out!

I haven’t seen the Sixth Sense, and I don’t have to – I know everything that happens in that film. During my first watch of The Sopranos, I’d close my eyes while walking through any shop that sold DVDs in case I caught sight of the complete boxset. One day I did, and I knew that every character on that boxset made it to the final series. I cried.

With Director, Cast And Release Date Set, 'Fantastic Four' Reboot Might Work Out

Kate Mara Michael B. Jordan Miles Teller Jamie Bell

The “Fantastic Four” reboot cast has been finalized (almost). The release date has been set – June 19, 2015, according to Deadline – and now the movie has its four leads as well. As predicted, Fantastic Four will star Kate Mara as Invisible Girl, Fruitvale Station breakout Michael B. Jordan as the Human Torch, Miles Teller as Mr. Fantastic and Jamie Bell (Nymphomaniac) as The Thing. The deals are still being negotiated, but all look fairly solid. Deadline reports that Bell and Jordan’s involvement is certain.

Kate Mara
Mara is most likely to fill Jessica Alba's shoes as Sue Storm.

The script is being penned by Simon Kinberg and Fox is handing the direction to Josh Trank. Trank has previously worked on Chronicle, so it could be said that he has some experience with sci-fi. On the other hand, this is only his second feature film, meaning that Fox is banking on a relative newcomer to kick off what will likely become the studio’s attempt at a superhero franchise, a la Avengers.

Kevin Spacey Kate Mara

The immensely popular House of Cards kicked off its second season on Netflix today, prompting people to commence binging on the tense political drama. Kevin Spacey, who leads the show with a commanding performance, has predicted a 12 season run. Bit ambitious, don’t you think?

House of CardsHouse of Cards - let the scheming and mind games begin!

“12 years, 12 seasons,” said Spacey to Digital Spy when they asked him about the future of the show. It’s more realistic that the 37 seasons he joked about at one point, but another 10 years of House of Cards isn’t really… on the cards, so to speak. Then again, we’d love to be proved wrong.

The Lone Ranger: When Was The Last Time Johnny Depp Got So Little Attention?

Johnny Depp Gore Verbinski Armie Hammer Disney Kate Mara Morgan Freeman Rebecca Hall

You'd be forgiven for assuming Gore Verbinski's The Lone Ranger was still weeks away from its cinematic release, with animations Despicable Me 2 and Monster's University dominating the movie talk ahead of the weekend's box-office. Hell, people are still talking about World War Z and The Heat more than Johnny Depp's new movie.

The Hollywood actor plays the Native American spirit warrior Tonto in Verbinski's re-telling of the classic story, with The Social Network's Armie Hammer the underwhelming choice as John Reid, aka, the Ranger. It's difficult to figure out why Disney's big-budget new movie has flown under the radar, though a flurry of tragic reviews and grumblings over the representation of Native Americans has severely dented public anticipation.

Deadfall Review

Good

With a focus on messy family relationships, this thriller's deranged comical touches almost make up for its contrived plot and annoyingly thin characters. Director Ruzowitzky (an Oscar winner for The Counterfeiters) makes the most of the snowy landscapes and an eclectic cast, but the jarring combination of grisly violence, black humour, romance and drama never quite comes together.

In a northern Michigan blizzard, Addison (Bana) is on the run with his sister Liza (Wilde) after a casino heist. When their car crashes in the snow, they decide to head for the Canadian border separately. Liza is picked up off the road by Jay (Hunnam), a hunky ex-con boxer who's stopping to see his parents his parents (Spacek and Kristofferson) while running from the cops himself. Addison encounters a variety of local characters himself as he tries to catch up with Liza. And the local sheriff (Williams) relentlessly picks on deputy Hanna (Mara), his daughter, as they track the fugitives through the snow.

Every relationship in this film is deeply dysfunctional, and the actors have a great time playing with the soapy wrinkles. Bana and Wilde play up the creepy innuendo between the siblings, while the contrived romance between Wilde and Hunnam is like the set-up for a porn movie. Meanwhile, Mara's ambitious cop is so belittled by her awful dad and his equally sexist deputies that we don't really mind it when they start dying one by one in their encounters with Addison. And holding everything together is the wonderfully level-headed Spacek, who carries on cooking dinner while her husband goes out to shoot a deer, then cheerfully serves pie even with a shotgun levelled at her head.

Katy Perry, Selena Gomez and Uma Thurman were just some of the stars who attended the UNICEF Snowflake Ball, with Gomez in particular looking keen to put reports of her and Justin BIeber breaking up and then perhaps getting back together on the back burner for the evening. Perry looked stunning, as did TV actress Allison Williams, but Gomez stole much of the limelight, putting on a smiley face as she donned sparkly black number and chatted freely with the room at 42nd Street.

Addison and Liza are brother and sister and partners in crime who rob a casino in order to make a better life for themselves in Canada after a troubled homelife when they were younger. However, things go badly wrong when their getaway car overturns whilst driving through a freezing blizzard killing their driver. When a police car pulls up nearby to see if everyone's OK, Addison shoots the approaching officer before suggesting he and his sister split up and ordering Liza to hitch a ride. She is eventually picked up, shivering, by former boxer Jay who is heading to his parents' and offers to take her in for Thanksgiving . She soon finds herself falling for him and struggles to cope with her protective feelings towards him. Meanwhile, Addison is getting into serious trouble elsewhere leaving a trail of bodies as he attempts to retreat into hiding. Things take a shocking turn when the siblings meet up at Jay's parents' house and Liza finds herself torn between the two people she loves the most.

'Deadfall' is the hard-hitting, morally questionable story about the trials and tribulations of family loyalty and true love with a thrilling cast and exhilarating action. It has been directed by Stefan Ruzowitzky ('The Counterfeiters', 'Anatomy', 'Die Siebtelbauern') and written by Zach Dean in his screenwriting debut and is due out in the US on December 7th 2012.

Starring: Eric Bana, Olivia Wilde, Charlie Hunnam, Kate Mara, Sissy Spacek, Kris Kristofferson & Treat Williams.

Shooter Review

OK
As the hero of Shooter, Mark Wahlberg narrows his eyes into a piercing stare, delivers his bite-sized chunks of dialogue under his breath, and maintains a constant state of muscle flex so that each vein in his ropy arms sticks up like a speed bump on an elementary school driveway.

Wahlberg even boasts the ideal name: Bob Lee Swagger. The surname ensures he's all attitude. The fact that he goes by three monikers means he's a bona fide presidential assassin, situated in a class above Lee Harvey Oswald.
