It looks like Kate Middleton, The Duchess of Cambridge, will have to attend some royal engagements alone, as Prince William attends a funeral, reports The Telegraph.

Even the royals are using twitter as a mode of communication now: “Just announced - The Duke of Cambridge will not join his wife as planned on royal engagements in Tyne and Wear and Stockton-on-Tees (Wed).” the official Clarence House Twitter feed stated. “The Duke of Cambridge will instead attend the funeral of Olga Powell, who was his and Prince Harry’s nanny for much of their childhood.” This means Kate will have to attend separate engagements in Newcastle, Gateshead and Stockton-on-Tees on Wednesday without Prince William; the first time she will have done such a thing without the Duke of Cambridge on her arm. Instead, William and his brother Harry will attend the funeral of Olga Powell, a former nanny of theirs. In an interview with The Mirror before the royal wedding, she said the boys had been “like my grandsons.”

This, perhaps, would not be such a daunting task for Mrs. Middleton, as we’re sure she’s fully capable of handling such an occasion, even without her man by her side, but given that it’s the first public outing since the topless scandal that engulfed her recently, there’s more pressure on here to present an amicable public face for the British Royal Family.
