Singer Katie Melua has apologised to her French fans after postponing a series of concerts in the country.

The Closest Thing To Crazy hitmaker was set to perform a number of shows back-to-back across France in February (13), but has decided to push them back to December (13).

A statement on her official website reads, "It has been decided that it is undesirable to concentrate so many French concerts within a short time, and so therefore some of the dates have been rescheduled for later in the year.

"The fact that the later shows will coincide with the release of a new studio album will add a special flavour to them and Katie is very much looking forward to using these postponed shows to debut some of the new material. Katie and the promoter jointly apologise for any inconvenience caused by this decision."

Melua will still perform one gig in Paris on 16 February (13) and will return to France for her first newly scheduled show in Strasbourg on 1 December (13).
