Newlywed singer Katie Melua is helping her husband James Toseland launch a music career.

The Closest Thing To Crazy hitmaker has been visiting the former World Superbike Champion in the studio as he records his debut album, less than three weeks after the couple married in London on 1 September (12).

Toseland teamed up with Little Angels frontman Toby Jepson to write the rock tracks, and Melua insists she is thrilled with her husband's new venture.

She tells U.K. Tv host Alan Titchmarsh, "I never thought I would (marry) but I did and it was incredible. I married James - my fiance, obviously - his full name's James Toseland. He used to be a World Superbike Champion and now he's a musician. I visited him yesterday in the studio because he was working, he is making his first album. It's really exciting."

Melua is embarking on a tour to promote her latest album Secret Symphony, and is already making plans to meet up with her new husband on the road.

She adds, "He's going to come and visit me quite a bit, actually. I'm playing London, I'm playing Glasgow, and lots of other dates in the U.K., and then we're going off to the rest of Europe."
