Katie Price's husband is ''very proud'' of her for remaining calm during the traumatic birth of their first child together.

Kieran Hayler has thanked the glamour model's fans for their support and well wishes following the birth of their son, Jett Riviera, who was born via emergency Caesarean section this week after his heart rate dropped to a dangerously low level.

He tweeted on Sunday (18.08.13): ''I wish there was a word to describe how I am feeling amazing and incredible don't even come close!!!! #prouddaddy #proudhubby #jett

''And again I would like to thank everyone, I read every single tweet so thank you all so much. Xx

''I want to start replying to everyone's tweets but I have no idea where to start. Far too much love for my wife @MissKatiePrice and baby Jett!''

Katie, 35, was rushed to hospital while on holiday in Europe with her family and was forced to welcome her son eight weeks early.

She endured a ''hard challenging time'' after tests showed she had an infection, which ran the risk of harming the baby in her womb.

The reality TV star - who has 11-year-old son Harvey from her relationship with Dwight Yorke, son Junior, eight, and a daughter Princess Tiaamii, six, with her ex-husband Peter Andre - is still in hospital but has assured her fans that all is well.

She also tweeted on Sunday: ''Many thanks for all your kind words of support and congratulations. Kieran and myself are so happy with our baby Jett we look forward to coming home when allowed and introducing him to our families xx

''Finally in a state to tweet thank you for everyone's amazing support and messages! I love @kieran0322 and our amazing baby boy Jett.''
