Perry’s twitter was hacked on Monday evening and rumoured enemy Taylor Swift got a shoutout.
On Monday night (May 30th) Katy Perry’s 89 million Twitter followers were left feeling confused after a series of bizarre tweets were sent from the singer’s account. As it turns out Perry was the victim of a hacker, one who obviously knew about her rumoured beef with Taylor Swift.
Katy Perry’s twitter was hacked on Monday evening.
According to E! News the hacker first sent a tweet reading: ‘Haha follow @Sw4ylol #HackersGonnaHate,’ then ‘Shoutout I and r Breh’. There were also tweets containing homophobic and racist slurs.
But the tweet that garnered the most attention was one which simply read: ‘Miss u baby @TaylorSwift13’. The tweets were soon deleted and Perry, who has the most followers of any user on Twitter, is yet to comment on the hack.

Perry and Swift have a complicated history, with rumours of a feud going back to 2014. It all started when it was claimed that Perry had ‘stolen’ three of Swift’s back-up dancers for her ‘Prism’ world tour. Then when Swift released single ‘Bad Blood’ later that year many thought the track was a dig at Perry.
Swift herself said during an interview with Rolling Stone that ‘Bad Blood’ was about another female artist. "She did something so horrible," Swift said, without naming names. "I was like, 'Oh, we're just straight-up enemies.’”
Of course everyone pointed the finger at Perry, who stayed quiet on the matter. That was until last year when she appeared to reference the song during Swift’s twitter war with Nicki Minaj. “Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman,” Perry tweeted.

The latest development between the two singers came in February, when Perry kind-of invited Swift to her pre-Grammys party. When asked if Swift and Adele were invited to the party Perry said: “It’s just up to their schedules.”
The hack on Perry’s twitter also saw the perpetrator, known as ‘Sw4ylol’ leak what appeared to be an unheard Perry song titled ‘Witness 1.3’ on Soundcloud. The song was eventually removed from the music-sharing site after a complaint from Perry’s record label Universal.
