The 29 year-old pop star explains how someone in her position would benefit dating a man who is in the public eye.
As well as being one of the most successful pop stars in the world, Katy Perry is also one of the most beautiful so there is no doubt that many men can only dream about dating her. Unfortunately this isn't going to change anytime soon as Perry thinks dating "non-famous guys" can be a negative thing.
Perry thinks there are problems with dating men who arn't in the spotlight
The 29 year-old singer's decision to not become intimate with someone who isn't in the spotlight has come from having several well-publicised relationships with famous men in the past, which includes John Mayer and Russell Brand.

"I've done that before," she told Rolling Stone's most recent issue. "It's not that they have to be famous, although there's a level of understanding when they're in the same business, you know?"
"They understand what it means when you're tired from a show or the tour's exhausting you or if an interview went wrong-they know all the ins and outs, so you can just walk in to the house with a certain face and they understand, you know? Rather than, like, having to explain everything and that takes two, three hours," she added.
In the candid interview, Perry also opened up about what she learned when going through a divorce with Russell Brand in July 2012.

"Now I know-first and foremost, self-love, and then give love away," she explained. "Back then it was mostly just me giving love away with no self-love. I went through my 'return of Saturn,' is what they call it."
Perry also claims to find fame "disgusting"
But being in the public eye this time around cannot have been easy, and Perry also echoes this when explain why she hates fame.
"Fame is, I think, disgusting, and it's really hard to separate your public life from your personal life," she said. "I only ever just wanted to make music and be on stage and play, and offer up my perception of how I view the world, through the songs that I write. But then there's a lot of different things that come with it, and I call them trade-offs."
