Katy Perry opens up on the fall out of her relationship with Russell Brand, saying the rapper ended things over text
For many, the union of Russell Brand and Katy Perry was a strange one; one of them is a comedian renown for his intelligence and liberal views, the other a pop star with seemingly no inclination for intellect or personal views. In hindsight, it was never going to work out was it?
That’s not to say either of them are right, wrong, good or bad, but suffice to say: it was weird. So when their divorce was announced last year, no one was surprised. Brand’s method, though, may not have been expected. "He's a very smart man, and I was in love with him when I married him," Perry said in an interview with Vogue. "Let's just say I haven't heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011."
Brand is known for his quick style of comedy, with which he can usually confuse even the most savvy of interviewers as he demonstrated recently with his performance on Morning Joe. Although, to call the people at NBC savvy is a mighty fine compliment. Perry, though, started to get lost in the funny mans humour. "Hysterical in some ways. Until he started making jokes about me and he didn't know I was in the audience, because I had come to surprise him at one of his shows,” she explained of his comedic style.
Brand’s distinctive voice will be heard in Despicable Me 2, which is due for release soon. He plays Dr. Nefario, Gru's elderly, hearing impaired gadget man and good friend and is, as ever, hilarious.
