Kelly Clarkson Was 'Blackmailed' Into Collaborating With Kesha's Producer Dr. Luke

Kesha Kelly Clarkson

It looks like Kesha's case against Dr. Luke has just got a boost from fellow Sony artist Kelly Clarkson, who has now revealed that she has her own reservations about the producer as well after being 'blackmailed' into working with him despite the fact that she thinks he 'lies a lot'.

Kelly ClarksonKelly Clarkson opens up about Dr. Luke

The 'Piece By Piece' singer threw caution to the winds when she took to Twitter in support of her troubled peer Kesha after it was ruled by New York Supreme Court that the latter would not be freed from her record label in order to continue to make a living as a recording artist, despite accusing producer Dr. Luke of emotional and sexual abuse. And now Clarkson has gone a step further by publicly slamming the producer in an interview on Australia's KIIS 1065 Kyle & Jackie O Breakfast Show.

Kelly Clarkson delivered an emotional performance as she returned to the place where it all began for her, as she appeared on ‘American Idol’ during its last ever season.

33 year old Clarkson, who was the first ever winner of ‘American Idol’ when it started in 2002, appeared as a guest judge giving out advice to the Top Ten contestants before getting on stage to sing ‘Piece By Piece’, her recent single.

It proved to be devastatingly effective, as Clarkson visibly started shedding tears during her full-on performance, with fellow judge Jennifer Lopez clearly moved and even bringing a tear to Keith Urban’s eye.

Kelly Clarkson And Husband Brandon Blackstock Choose Beautiful Name For Baby Girl

Kelly Clarkson

The 2014 baby invasion continues. This week’s celebrity mother is Kelly Clarkson, who just welcomed a baby girl with husband Brandon Blackstock. The baby girl was named River Rose Clarkson – a name that seems like a perfect fit for the literature-inclined Clarkson. Last year, the star attempted to buy a ring, which once belonged to Jane Austen because she admires the author’s work. The ring was ultimately bought off by the Jane Austen’s House Museum, but the singer’s love of beautiful language seems to be alive and well.

Celebrate The Holidays (Two Months Ahead) With Kelly Clarkson's "Underneath The Tree"

Kelly Clarkson

Some of us are gearing up for Halloween, others have skipped the autumn holidays entirely and are gearing up for Christmas already – case in point: Kelly Clarkson’s newly released holiday single. Clarkson premiered 'Underneath the Tree' online today, as part of her upcoming winter collection Wrapped in Red. The song is a 3-minute, upbeat ditty, predictably layered with loud piano chords and sleigh bells, but it gets the point across - get excited about Christmas and get excited now.

Clarkson's recent style choices match the holiday theme.

Why Has Kelly Clarkson Been Forced To Give Up Jane Austen's Ring?

Kelly Clarkson JANE AUSTEN

After a protracted disagreement and subsequent petition, the American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson has been forced to sell back a gold and turquoise ring once belonging to the celebrated British author JANE AUSTEN

The singer had purchased the ring for more than $243,000 at auction earlier this year, outbidding the Jane Austen House Museum. However, the Britain's culture minister placed the ring under a provisional export bar until September 30 to give the museum time to match Clarkson's bid.

The museum launched a 'Save the Ring' campaign in order to find funds and, thanks to an anonymous donation of more than $159,000 in August, was able to purchase back the piece of jewellery from Ms Clarkson.

UK Successfully Stops Kelly Clarkson's Bid For Jane Austen Ring

Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson is a huge fan of the author Jane Austen, and over the years she has built up an impressive collection of Austen memorabilia. When the singer tried to purchase a ring belonging to the 19th century British author recently, her attempts her scuppered by a successful campaign to keep the ring in the country, the Jane Austen's House Museum revealed on Monday, 23 September.

According to Reuters, the Jane Austen's House Museum began a fundraiser to outbid the singer following her acquisition in 2012, after Culture Minister Ed Vaizey placed a temporary export bar on the ring following the initial auction. The turquoise and gold antique ring was sold to Clarkson at an auction last year for over £150,000 ($227,000), however the purchase, and the prospect of it moving across the Atlantic, caused an outcry from Austen fans across the world, and a campaign to keep it in the country soon began. On Monday, it was announced that the campaign was a success.

Kelly Clarkson's Jane Austen Ring Could Be Taken From The Singer Before The Year Is Out

Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson’s Jane Austen ring purchase got the star a lot more than she bargained for, as the American singer has faced a whole host of complications, since the British government put an export ban on the ring. The trouble for Kelly is that the ring is considered a historical artifact and the Brits, like any nation with a rich heritage, are quite touchy about their history.

Kelly Clarkson, Braehead Arena
The ring has earned Clarkson nothing but headaches.

The British cultural minister has posed a challenge to potential benefactors – if anyone can top the price Clarkson originally paid until December, or even offer substantial evidence that they possess the funds, then the ring will stay in the UK.

FOX Looking To Recruit Former American Idol Winners As Judges For Next Season, But Will It Work?

American Idol Jennifer Hudson Kelly Clarkson Clay Aiken Adam Lambert

With FOX bosses panning a complete re-haul of the American Idol judging panel for next season, it has emerged that producers will no longer be looking to the stars for a new panel, but rather sticking with what they already have. The 2014 season will therefore be bringing back former Idol stars as judges for the next instalment of the long-running talent show, a plan that seems fool-proof, but may end up being a disaster.

As E! News reported on Friday (May 24), Jennifer Hudson has all but signed on the dotted line, effectively bringing her back to the show where she first made her name. Producers are also said to be eying up returns from the first Idol winner, Kelly Clarkson, with either Adam Lambert or Clay Aiken being lined up to take on the remaining hot seat. The plan seems like a decent one as it will remind viewers and contestants of the star-making ability the show possesses (or at least what it once possessed) and will no doubt please die-hard Idol fans, however there may be a flaw to the plan as the move will effectively place Idol in it's own little bubble, free from outside influences.

Anyone who watches Idol and listens to popular music will know that the songs performed week in and week out do not necessarily reflect what is popular in the rest of the musical landscape, and it is really here where the problem with Idol lays. The poor viewing figures of recent series may be reflective of an unpopular judging panel, but it more likely reflects a irrelevance now held by the show in the rest of popular culture.

A Possible American Idol Alumni Panel Could Feature Jennifer Hudson, Among Others

Jennifer Hudson Kelly Clarkson Adam Lambert

There has been a lot of talk about the possibility of a new American Idol judging panel lately – possibly one featuring Jennifer Hudson. After the departure of veteran Randy Jackson and the reported booting of Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, a number of celebrities have been rumored as potential panelists. But a team of former Idol contestants would make sense for the show – at the very least, they would be more aware of the challenges the current contestants face each week.

There have been reports that both Kelly Clarkson and Adam Lambert have been approached to return to the show as judges, but, if Hudson really is in talks, as Vulture reports, that would mean that Fox is actually going ahead with the idea of a panel with former contestants. Obviously, the network is desperate to revamp the show, whose twelfth season by all standards failed in the ratings department. The final episode of Idol, during which Candice Glover was announced as the winner, was watched by just about half the audience of Idol’s pique years.

Then again, the whole story might be just a rouse, as many Idol rumours (such as the one about Enrique Iglesias coming on as a judge) have turned out to be bogus. Two things are certain though: Changes are coming and they will be massive.

As a judge on The Voice, Shelton used his position to raise awareness, opening Tuesday night's show by performing an acoustic version of "Over You" alongside wife Miranda Lambert. Meanwhile, the donation information for The Red Cross was behind them on-screen. "I think 'Over You' was the perfect song for this situation," Shelton said later on. "The moment was right. I wish things could have been different. I wouldn't have thought about performing a song like that, but it seemed like the right thing to do." And it was later revealed that he and NBC were amidst the planning stages of a benefit concert to raise money. "We'll know more about it in the next 24 hours," Shelton told Billboard. "I'm hoping it will raise a lot of money. Obviously, it will be televised and will happen really quickly."

Blake Shelton To Officiate Kelly Clarkson's Wedding

Kelly Clarkson Blake Shelton

How cool’s this going to be!? Not very, probably, unless you’re Kelly Clarkson: so what’s happening is, Blake Shelton’s going to be there at her wedding. But not just that, right, he’s also going to be singing at her wedding! But that’s not even all – I know! – it turns out that he’s going to be conducting the whole darn shebang!

Speaking to Entertainment Online, Clarkson commented that Shelton did have history of wedding couples and had no hesitance in calling him Reverend Shelton. It’s perhaps just rewards for the country star, after he revealed that he had a hand in the pop singer and her fiancée Brandon Blackstock together. "I told Brandon, 'Man, you need to grow up and figure out that you need to marry this girl,' " Shelton told Hollyscoop last December. "'I am going on the record saying, I will do the music at the wedding or whatever you want to do, I'll be that guy. I will play for four hours if I have to, cause you need to get you head out of your ... and ask that girl to marry you.' "

Apparently Clarkson has already picked out her wedding dress for the occasion and also the moth of the nuptials, although the date keeps getting moved around due to the pair’s busy schedule. We’re not really too surprised by that, but as long as they get down the aisle at some point everything should be alright eh.

Kelly Clarkson has revealed that Blake Shelton will be officiating her wedding to Brandon Blackstock, as well as performing too. She told everyone the news at the ACM Awards on Sunday, April 7.

It’s all a close-knit affair, you see; Blackstock is Shelton’s manager, and was instrumental in getting his boss to pop the question. "I told Brandon, man, you need to grow up and figure out that you need to marry this girl," he told the US Magaznie. "I am going on the record saying, I will do the music at the wedding or whatever you want to do, I'll be that guy. I will play for four hours if I have to, cause you need to get your head out of your ass and ask that girl to marry you." Clarkson and Blackstock became engaged late last year in mid-December, with Clarkson taking to twitter to share the good news. “I'M ENGAGED!!!!! I wanted y'all to know!! Happiest night of my life last night! I am so lucky and am with the greatest man ever :)” she posted.

Maroon 5 Already Have Some 'Great Songs' Written For Their Next Album

Maroon 5 Adam Levine Kelly Clarkson

Maroon 5 are one of those bands that just don't know when to slow down, and the constantly at work boy band are as busy as ever it would seem following the announcement that they are already a few songs into the follow-up to last years Overexposed album. Obviously doing time in the studio isn't unusual for bands, but their progress comes as a surprise given everything else the band have to look forward to, including an upcoming summer tour with Kelly Clarkson and frontman Adam Levine's commitment to The Voice.

Adam Levine
Adam Levine has been a busy man over the past few months, and it looks as though he has no signs of slowing down.

Levine was speaking to the Associated Press recently about the band's on-going commitments, when he was quizzed on the progress of what will be the group's fifth album. He told AP that the album is still in the early stages but they are excited for people to hear to songs nonetheless. He said,"We're just getting started. We've got some great songs in the can."

Scathing Memoir Causes Fallout Between Kelly Clarkson And Clive Davis

Kelly Clarkson Clive Davis

You’d never think of Kelly Clarkson of all people as confrontational, but it looks like she actually has some beef – with Clive Davis of all people.

After the legendary producer published a memoir, telling the story of his life, it was revealed that the book contained an entire chapter focused on the former American Idol winner. And let’s just say she wasn’t portrayed in the best possible light. According to Davis, at one point the singer even threw a temper tantrum in his office over not having her hit single Since U Been Gone included on her upcoming record. He also goes on to mention several other instances which portray Clarkson in a less than professional light.

However, the singer herself has said that there is absolutely no truth to the accusations. In fact, Clarkson describes a completely different version of events, where her breakdown was due to Davis bullying her.

'Creative Differences' - A War Of Words Between Clive Davis And Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson Clive Davis

Clive Davis seems determined to have the last word in his war with Kelly Clarkson, which he has put down to “creative differences,” whereas Clarkson seems intent on chalking it up to “bullying.” Davis has dismissed Clarkson’s own recollections of the events that he detailed in his autobiography The Soundtrack Of My Life and insists that his depiction of the time that they worked together is not only accurate but has been fact-checked independently, too.

“I am truly very sorry that she has decided to take issue with what I know to be an accurate depiction of our time together,” Davis posted on his Twitter page. “Before the book was published, I had every fact checked with five independent individuals who were present on a daily basis throughout it all. The chapter as it is written was thoroughly verified by each and every one of them. I stand by the chapter as written in my book.” He did go on to defend Clarkson’s honor, to some degree – even if he was essentially branding her a liar. He described Clarkson as being “a tremendous vocal talent and performer” and although he cites “creative differences as the root of their problems, he added “At the same time I wish, and will always wish, Kelly's talent and her career to soar to ever new heights.”

Clarkson described the music industry leader’s comments as a “violation” and said “Growing up is awesome because you learn you don't have to cower to anyone—even Clive Davis."

Kelly Clarkson Refutes Clive Davis’ Statements In Her Autobiography

Kelly Clarkson Clive Davis

Kelly Clarkson has responded to statements made by record executive Clive Davis in a combination of online posts and her autobiography. The singer accused him of bullying and spreading false rumours.

If there’s one thing we know about Clarkson, it’s that she’s pretty feisty. So when she read what she perceived to be false comments, there was no way she’d back down. "So I just heard Clive Davis is releasing a memoir and spreading false information about me and my music,” she wrote on an online post called, ‘Hey Y’all’. “I refuse to be bullied and I just have to clear up his memory lapses.” In 2007, Kelly Clarkson revealed she was no longer working with Davis because of creative differences over her album, and later apologised for the feud. Back then, she called him "one of the greatest record men of all time," wonder what she’d call him now? "First, he says I burst into 'hysterical sobbing' in his office when he demanded Since U Been Gone be on my album. Not true at all,” she adds.

Davis has offered a rebuttal to her counterclaims (still with us?) stating: "Before the book was published, I had every fact checked with five independent individuals who were present on a daily basis throughout it all. The chapter as it is written was thoroughly verified by each and every one of them.

Kelly Clarkson Photobomb Lights Up The Grammys

Kelly Clarkson Ellen Degeneres Portia De Rossi

Kelly Clarkson won Best Pop Vocal Album last night at The Grammys, but she also won the hearts of many with a delightfully silly photobomb and eloquent, modest speech.

Ellen Degeneres and Portia De Rossi posed for a picture in their slick, glamerous attire, and were unknowingly trumped by a spritely Kelly Clarkson who drew a wide smile and pointed at them in the background. Lovely stuff. "I didn't know I was going to win 'cause I literally, I was so excited to be in a category with Fun," beamed Kelly from the stage upon receiving her award. "I have been covering you all summer. I'm sorry, I love that song. I think it's so awesome. I love Pink. Everyone - Adele - that I was in a category with. Anyway, thank you so much, friends, family, label, my manager, Narvel [Blackstock, Brandon's father and Kelly's manager], my fiancé, who is sexy tonight. I did not think I was going to win. Thank you!" she continued in her adorable speech. And, presumably still high on that buzz, she belted out her tribute to Carol King and Patti Page with gusto.

55th Grammys Preview: 'Music's Biggest Night' Wont Fail To Impress

Grammy Awards Beyonce Knowles Prince Taylor Swift Maroon 5 Kelly Clarkson Florence and the Machine Frank Ocean Alicia Keys Elton John Ed Sheeran Bruno Mars Sting Jennifer Lopez Rihanna Justin Timberlake Justin Bieber Mumford And Sons Fun Black Keys Jack White

Annually, the Grammys is one of the biggest events for music across America and in Europe. In fact, it has dubbed itself 'music's biggest night'. Celebrating the best in pop, hiphop, soul, R&B and much of what comes in between, it never fails to be a veritable who's who from the Spotify playlists of the masses. And this year will be no different. Not only are the nominees ones to look out for, absences are worthy of note, as are this year's presenters and some very special performances.

As Yahoo report, this year's presenters include Grammy royalty, Prince, Beyonce, and Jennifer Lopez, all of whom have been nominated or won Grammys before.

In terms of performances to look forward to, this year we have some unusual and largely unexpected pair ups. Elton John and Ed Sheeran will take to the stage together. An unusual pairing, they're both Brits with unusual song writing talent. While John is a true showman and is well known for his intereSting outfits and outrageous glasses, Sheeran is distinctly more low key. We're not sure how this is going to work, but we're guessing it'll be great. Bruno Mars, Sting and Rihanna will all also perform together, as will Alicia Keys and Maroon 5, and Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert.

Kelly Clarkson: Mushrooms Are The Key To Her Success?

Kelly Clarkson Beyonce Knowles

First it’s Shia LaBeouf dropping acid to research a film role, now we learn that the seemingly angelic, former American Idol singer and all-round top pop champion Kelly Clarkson was on mushrooms before she performed at Barack Obama’s inauguration. Oh, wait, what? Oh. Not THOSE kinds of mushrooms. Oh.

So, this isn’t quite the story we thought it was, it turns out that apparently, what Kelly Clarkson did do before the performance, was feast on a carb-heavy Italian meal at Buca Di Beppo in DC. Clarkson chowed down on stuffed mushrooms - the legal kind – with some friends. they also tucked into lasagne, bruschetta, spaghetti, meatballs and chicken parmigiana, according to TMZ and the bill came to a healthy $230. Not a bad way to spend your time before addressing the entire US nation (oh, and quite a lot of the rest of the world, as well), to sing ‘My Country, ‘Tis Of Thee.’

Kelly was “super-friendly” apparently and took time out to have her picture taken with some of the staff at the restaurant. She left in high spirits, it seems, before going on to perform at the inauguration. And in light of Beyonce’s lip-syncing scandal, which seems too big to be swept under any rug just yet, it’s worth mentioning that Kelly was singing live. Those mushrooms must be good for the vocal chords, huh?

No Comment: Is Beyonce's Lip-Synced National Anthem Really Such A Scandal?

Beyonce Knowles Kelly Clarkson James Taylor

People love a good scandal in the world of music and celebrity. We love it when lies are uncovered and we can expose a celebrity for misleading us and conning the unsuspecting public out of their hard-earned cash. So when rumours began to fly that Beyonce Knowles was not performing live when she sang ‘Star-Spangled Banner’ at Barack Obama’s Inauguration, was it really the scandal that the gossip-mongerers are making it out to be?

Take a look at Beyonce's performance at the 2013 Presidential Inauguration

Bill Clinton Photobomb Embarrassment For Kelly Clarkson

Bill Clinton Kelly Clarkson

He’s not been President in some 12 years, but you can always rely on Bill Clinton to take the center stage somehow. The popular former leader of the USA made sure that he was among the headline makers at yesterday’s inauguration for the re-election of Barack Obama by sitting himself behind Kelly Clarkson and pulling an amusing face as she got ready to sing ‘My Country Tis Of Thee’.

It’s a really genius photo, Clinton’s face not over the top, but his surprised-looking glance towards Clarkson just enough to completely take all the attention off the multi-million selling singer and squarely onto him. The former Prez can’t help but hog the limelight; remember back in 2008 when he fell asleep during a Martin Luther King speech? Priceless, it appears Bill is more than comfortable doing what he wants, when he wants, how he wants.

President Obama Thanks Beyonce For Performing At His Inauguration

Beyonce Knowles Barack Obama Michelle Obama Kelly Clarkson

Beyonce is showing some big love for her country's biggest events this year, as she sang the American national anthem, The Star-Spangled Banner, at Barack Obama's second presidential inauguration, as well as being the artist to perform at this year's Superbowl half-time show.

She and Jay-Z have been very vocal about their support of the president over both his campaigns and terms, and the couple of couples have dined together on numerous occasions. As she walked on stage she greeted Michelle Obama, the first lady, with a familial kiss, and spoke to Joe Biden, the Vice President. After she had finished her rousing and, as MTV put it, 'diva-fied' rendition of the anthem, Obama shook her hand and said "Thank you so much."

Kelly Clarkson also performed for the president, singing a historic song popularly known as 'America', otherwise known as My Country, 'Tis of Thee.

Austere Barack Obama Inauguration Ready For Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson And James Taylor

Barack Obama Kelly Clarkson Beyonce Knowles James Taylor Katy Perry Usher Lupe Fiasco Michelle Obama

It may be a star-studded line-up performing at the Barack Obama inauguration today at the White House in Washington DC – featuring Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson and James Taylor - but the event as a whole will be a pared-down affair, in keeping with the expectations that the President wants the public to have about his next four years in charge.

As has been widely reported, Beyonce will be singing the US national anthem ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’, with Kelly Clarkson and James Taylor singing patriotic songs ‘My Country, Tis Of Thee’ and ‘America The Beautiful’ respectively. The ceremony will focus on Obama laying out his vision for the next four years, with the country gripped in financial turmoil. However, if things are going to be relatively austere there, then elsewhere the Kids Inaugural Concert held in honor of the President’s new term saw the likes of Katy Perry and Usher celebrate the new era in style. Hosted by First Lady Michelle Obama at the Washington Convention Center, the event was for her daughters, and saw Nick Cannon emcee the evening, with the Glee cast also among those performing in the evening.

Elsewhere things weren’t so celebratory; a staff writer wrote on his Twitter that rapper Lupe Fiasco – playing the StartUp RockOn concert in Washington as part of the celebrations – launched into a 30 minute tirade against Obama, eventually being led from the stage by security.

Kids' Inaugural 2013: Katy Perry And Usher Provide Highlights With Aerobic Acts And A Star-Spangled Onesie

Katy Perry Usher Barack Obama Darren Criss Naya Rivera Beyonce Knowles Kelly Clarkson James Taylor

Aware that children are, indeed, the future, the Kids of America got the best of the entertainment this weekend, at the Kids’ Inaugural – a repeat of the 2009 concert, but this time, with bigger names, playing to a smaller audience. Sasha and Malia Obama were of course, the guests of honour on this special weekend for their father, President Barack Obama, but 5,000 others were present at the exciting pop concert held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Centre, where Katy Perry and Usher took the headline slots, to entertain the gathered youth.

During his set, Usher reinforced the notion that the kids were worth keeping sweet, for the next presidential term, and told them “the youth matters,” during a set described by the Washington Post as “aerobic,” with “twisted limbs clad in black leather, kicking high tops the maraschino cherries.” When he told them to make some noise, they responded with a roar. Katy Perry – an avid supporter of Barack Obama (remember the Katy Perry election dress?) also performed on Saturday night (January 19, 2013). This time, she’d switch up the ballot dress for a “star-spangled onesie” and she treated the kids to some of her biggest hits, including ‘Teenage Dream’ and ‘Firework.’

Also performing for the Kids’ Inaugural were the Far East Movement and Glee’s Darren Criss and Naya Rivera, who covered ‘Valerie,’ the song made famous by Amy Winehouse. If you’re wondering why the kids are getting to have all the fun, don’t worry: Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson and James Taylor are all warming up their vocal cords, to sing for the grown-ups at the official inauguration ceremony today (January 21, 2013).

Obama Inauguration To Feature Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson And James Taylor

Barack Obama Beyonce Knowles Kelly Clarkson James Taylor

You wouldn’t expect the Obama inauguration to have anything less than a line-up taken from the very top of the music industry, and the US President hasn’t let himself down, after getting Beyonce Knowles on board to perform at the beginning of his second term in leadership.

President Barack Obama will be re-swearing the oaths on January 21 as he prepares himself for another four years in the job, and he’ll be serenaded by not only Beyonce, but by Kelly Clarkson and James Taylor as well. Beyonce was always going to be a popular choice in the Obama household to appear at the event; as People Magazine point out, she and her husband Jay Z have been regular visitors to the White House, whilst the First Lady Michelle Obama has even been known to work out to Knowles’ music. Back in 2009, meanwhile, Beyonce performed Etta James’ classic ‘At Last’ during the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball as the President and his wife took their first dance. We wonder if this will be the first high profile even of her daughter, Blue Ivy, since she turned one year old this week.

Kelly Clarkson will have a tough pair of shoes to fill when she performs. The star will be singing ‘My Country ‘Tis Of Thee’, following soul legend Aretha Franklin, who took on the role back in 2009. James Taylor will sing ‘America The Beautiful’.

Kelly Clarkson Gay Rumours Put To Bed In Cosmo Interview

Kelly Clarkson Whitney Houston

Those Kelly Clarkson gay rumours have finally been put to bed by none other than Kelly herself. She’s obviously grown tired of people assuming that she’s gay just because she hadn’t been in a relationship for a while, and told Cosmo that she’s “always batted for the boys’ team.” Having said that, it obviously hasn’t put the girls off trying it on with her as she proudly brags that she gets “hit on by the hottest girls ever. Oh, my god, if I were a lesbian, I would be so in luck. But it's just not my thing.”

Of course, anyone that’s been paying any attention whatsoever to Kelly’s life, is probably sat there right now thinking ‘hang on… I thought that Kelly Clarkson was engaged… to a man..?’ Well, yes, she is, but for the purposes of this attention-grabbing news story, it was very important to let you know that she is not a lesbian! Those rumours are still out there, guys and it was important to put them to rest.

Clarkson is, in fact, engaged to Brandon Blackstock and says that he’s “totally the one.” Which is handy, when you are planning to marry someone. Their relationship has managed to survive, despite the fact that their first date was the day Whitney Houston died. A bad omen, apparently.

Kelly Clarkson Laughs Down Lesbian Rumors

Kelly Clarkson

American darling Kelly Clarkson may be engaged now, but it wasn’t always so.

In fact, the pop star has been extremely outspoken about her experiences with depression, being single for long periods of time and, yes, feeling lonely, which, in the eyes of the media, apparently translates as being gay. Kelly herself has never condoned the rumours, but she’s never been offended by them.

She’s recently said for Cosmopolitan Magazine, via the Huffington Post: "People think, 'Oh, she's been single for too long.' That's kind of an insult to the gay community. Being single doesn't mean you're gay. But I'm never insulted by it, obviously. I mean, I get hit on by the hottest girls ever. Oh, my god, if I were a lesbian, I would be so in luck. But it's just not my thing. I've always batted for the boys' team." That sounds reasonable enough. However, the rumors are bound to be put to rest now, that the singer is happily engaged to Brandon Blackstock. In the same interview, she also talked about her relationship: "We've known each other for years, but we didn't start talking until the Super Bowl last February. And this is the funniest/worst thing ever: One of my superhero idols is Whitney Houston, and the day she died was our first date. I was like 'This is a bad omen." Nevertheless, it looks like things have been going pretty well for the couple so far and hopefully the future holds even more happiness for them.

Kelly Clarkson Quashes Gay Rumours, Calls Them Insulting

Kelly Clarkson American Idol

If anyone needed any evidence that Kelly Clarkson wasn't gay (and we can't for a second think why they'd care), then this should do it. Kelly Clarkson says she's not gay. And she thinks the rumours are insulting to the gay community.

"People think, 'Oh, she's been single for too long,'" Clarkson told Cosmopolitan in an interview for its February issue. "That's kind of an insult to the gay community. Being single doesn't mean you're gay. But I'm never insulted by it, obviously," the singer said, citing some perks: "I mean, I get hit on by the hottest girls ever. Oh, my God, if I were a lesbian, I would be so in luck. But it's just not my thing. I've always batted for the boys' team."

Clarkson - winner of American Idol all those years ago - recently got engaged to her beau , and the 30 year old must be glad as she's certainly not a fan of the type of guys that try it on. "[U]sually the guys who hit on me are tools ... ," Clarkson told the mag. "It's like 'American Idol' auditions: The guys who are the most confident are the horrible ones, and the ones who are good have no confidence at all."

Kelly Clarkson: 'Rumours About Me Were An Insult To The Gay Community'

Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson had to face some pretty wide-of-the-mark claims during the time that she was single, namely that she was gay. Not that there’s anything wrong with that of course, but the 30 year-old pop star never was, she was just suffering from something we all go through – being reluctantly single for a while.

Clarkson is now happily in a relationship, one which is going to turn into a marriage after she revealed last month that she’d got engaged to her boyfriend Brandon Blackstock. Talking to Cosmopolitan though she reflected on the rumors surrounding her sexuality. "People think, 'Oh, she's been single for too long.' That's kind of an insult to the gay community," the singer said. "Being single doesn't mean you're gay. But I'm never insulted by it. I mean, I get hit on by the hottest girls ever. Oh my god, if I was a lesbian, I would be so in luck. But it's just not my thing. I've always batted for the boys' team."

Clarkson also ruminated on what this new change in relationship status would mean for the content of her songs in the future. "It's kind of the next chapter for me, so there's still stuff to write about. The idea of 'Catch My Breath' is 'Man, it's been a decade and a lot of growing up.' And I think women in their 20s are searching, searching, searching... What do I want? What makes me happy? What doesn't make me happy?" she said. "I tell my boyfriend, 'I feel like the rug is gonna be pulled out from under me anytime.' He thinks I'm such a pessimist. But I think being so happy freaks you out. So there's something to write about in that as well."

Kelly Clarkson In A Good Place With Fiance Brandon Blackstock

Kelly Clarkson

Whether it's because they're in similar professions, Nashville-based talent manager Brandon Blackstock and global pop star Kelly Clarkson seem to 'fit'. The pair are now engaged after Blackstock popped the big question in Decemeber, and Clarkson's been doting on her beau to Cosmopolitan.

"Brandon's totally the one," Clarkson, 30, tells the fasion and lifestyle mag for its February issue. "I've never been so happy," she continued, before describing the night Brandon asked her to marry her as the "happiest night of my life." It's not as if the pair were new to each other, but following a friendship, romance has blossomed for her. "We've known each other for years, but we didn't start talking until the Super Bowl last February," Clarkson says in the issue, which will be available on Tuesday. "This is the funniest/worst thing ever: One of my superhero idols is Whitney Houston, and the day she died was our first date," she says. "I was like 'This is a bad omen.' Six years I was single before this," Clarkson adds. "I've never been truly loved like I am right now."

Before her relationship with Brandon got serious, and even up until the engagement, people assumed Kelly was a lesbian, which is something she (obviously) denies in light of her recently arranged nuptials. "People think, 'Oh, she's been single for too long.' That's kind of an insult to the gay community," the singer said.

VH1 Diva's Night: Miley Cyrus And Demi Lovato Are Loving Leather

Miley Cyrus Demi Lovato Kelly Clarkson Ciara Kelly Osbourne

There's never a bad excuse to celebrate women and their vocal talents, and VH1's Diva's Night is one of the best in the calender.

Kelly Roland, Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, Ciara and Kelly Osborne were all in attendance for the special night. Osborne and Adam Lambert hosted the evening, but in many ways it was Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus who truly stole the evening, showing their strength not only through their vocal chords but by leathering up.

Cyrus showed off her impressively toned midriff wearing black leather pants and a leather jacket adorned in hundreds of intimidating silvers studs, while performing Billy Idol's 'Rebel Yell'. Her performance has since been praised by her fellow performer Demi Lovato who tweeted "How great was @MileyCyrus's performance tonight? Beautiful, stunning and bad ass. All in one ? #rockstar" and by Billy Idol himself! "I enjoyed seeing @MileyCyrus having fun rockin' out with Rebel Yell last night on vh1divas!" He said, adding "'Take that b*tches'!"

Kelly Clarkson's Engagement Ring Takes Center Stage At VH1's Divas Night (Video)

Kelly Clarkson Miley Cyrus Kelly Rowland Demi Lovato Jordin Sparks Whitney Houston Donna Summer Adam Lambert Keri Hilson

Kelly Clarkson was the star of last night’s VH1 Divas show (Sunday December 16, 2012)… or rather her huge engagement ring was!

Clarkson’s partner, Brandon Blackstock proposed last week and the American Idol was looking radiantly happy as she took to the stage for the VH1 show. The Daily Mail have published snaps of the star, in her multi-fabric, figure hugging gown, her “canary yellow” diamond ring taking centre stage as she clutches the microphone stand in front of her.

Kelly joined a number of other female stars for the VH1 show, which was held in aid of the Save the Music foundation, which funds music programmes and has done so for the last decade. Kelly Rowland, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Jordin Sparks were amongst the performers. The event paid tribute to Whitney Houston and Donna Summer, both of whom passed away this year.

End Of The Year Special VH1 Divas Will Be Hosted By Adam Lambert

Adam Lambert Kelly Clarkson Jordin Sparks Keri Hilson

Adam Lambert is to host VH1 Divas, the end-of-the-year special that the channel is preparing.

The show is to focus on famous divas in pop culture, honouring, paying tribute to and sometimes poking fun at some of 2012’s infamous diva moments. Lambert himself is very excited about the event, as he said in an interview with Access Hollywood: “I just feel like people aren’t ready for this party. I don’t think anyone’s going to be ready for it. It’s going to hit them like a ton of bricks across the face and people are going to walk away from watching this thing like, ‘That was the best party of the entire year. I feel it. Yeah!”

The phrase “a ton of bricks” sounds a bit ominous to us, but the show will feature some interesting segments, according to Lambert himself. There are scheduled performances by the likes of American Idol veterans Kelly Clarkson and Jordin Sparks, as well as Demi Lovato and Keri Hilson, all fitting nicely within the diva theme. There will also be a sketch, performed by Lambert himself with real housewife NeNe Leakes. Of course, the show will also aim to pay tribute to famous divas, the late Whitney Houston and Donna Summer. Lambert is excited about hosting the show, as well as performing himself. And let’s not forget all of the crazy costumes the self-proclaimed male diva will get to wear, some of which Lambert designed himself.

Kelly Clarkson Engaged: The Original American Idol Ready To Tie The Knot

Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson is engaged! American Idol’s biggest success story, who became the first winner of the talent competition and went on to have several major hits, is ready to walk down the aisle.

The singer broke the news over Twitter yesterday (December 15). She has been dating her boyfriend, now fiancé, the talent agent Brandon Blackstock since the beginning of the year and, while the pair have generally been keeping a low profile, the relationship is obviously still going strong.

Yesterday the singer/songwriter tweeted to her fans “I’M ENGAGED! I wanted y'all to know!! Happiest night of my life last night!” According to Reuters, she then shared a picture of her canary yellow engagement ring, which Blackstock himself helped design. Happy celebrity couples - what a rare, but lovely phenomenon!

Is Kelly Clarkson Engaged To Brandon Blackstock?

Kelly Clarkson Ellen Degeneres

The gossip blogs have gone into overdrive this week with rumors that Kelly Clarkson is engaged to marry her boyfriend Brandon Blackstock: but is it true? Well, according to Clarkson herself - and she should know - it's a steaming pile of codswallop.

This week, the first American Idol winner appeared on the Ellen Degeneres show to put to bed the speculation. "Everyone thinks we are. We're not. We've actually been dating for nine months." However, the 'Stronger' singer confirmed that she will be walking down the aisle, one day. "We love each other. We are totally going to get married one day. No, he has two children and I'm new. You know you want to like - I mean he's got to put a ring at some point," she added. Trying to get as much out of the story as possible, DeGeneres pressed Clarkson as to what kind of wedding she would have, though the singer said it would most certainly be a tiny affair. "We will totally, probably elope," she said.

Kelly Clarkson's Greatest Hits Part 1 is out now, featuring seventeen tracks spanning ten years of music material from her career. It also includes three previously unreleased tracks 'Catch My Breath', 'Don't Rush' and 'People Like Us.'

Out Now: US Album Releases, Rihanna, Kid Rock, Phillip Phillips

Rihanna Chris Brown Kid Rock Phillip Phillips Dave Matthews Kelly Clarkson

The release of Rihanna’s seventh studio album hasn’t come without a significant fanfare. The Barbadian pop artist is currently in the midst of an ambitious tour, playing seven different cities, in seven different countries, over seven days. As the tour hits London, there’s already been talk of drunken antics and streaking on the official ‘777’ tour plane. Before you get too excited, though, it wasn’t Rhi-Rhi getting her kit off; it would seem that it was just a drunk and frustrated journo.

The album itself, Unapologetic, has been making just as many headlines as the lavish release tour. When Rihanna posted a handwritten tracklisting on Twitter, many an eyebrow was raised to see Chris Brown’s name on there, signifying that the tabloids’ favorite former couple would perform a duet. Many a second eyebrow was also raised, when they saw that the title of the duet was ‘Nobodies Business.’ English language aficionados and domestic abuse experts alike were up in arms at the news, though Rihanna remains both defiant and unapologetic over it.

As for the music, so far, we have had the track ‘Diamonds,’ to give a taster of what to expect on Unapologetic. ‘Diamonds’ has already spent four weeks in the chart, having peaked at number two, which bodes well for album number seven from Rihanna.

Girl Power At The 2012 American Music Awards: Nicki Minaj And Rihanna Lead The Way

Nicki Minaj Rihanna Justin Bieber Katy Perry Maroon 5 Drake Mariah Carey Adele Taylor Swift One Direction Kelly Clarkson Train Carrie Underwood Miranda Lambert Usher

Nicki Minaj and Rihanna are expected to clean up at the 2012 American Music Awards, with four nominations apiece, reports Reuters.

Rihanna is top of the table for the main category, as she wards off competition from Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Maroon 5 and Canadian rapper Drake for artist of the year. She’s also in line for female soul/R&B artist and best album, and will lock horns with Minaj for the female pop/rock artist category. Minaj could be recognized for her album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, in both the pop/rock and rap/hip hop categories this year, and she’s nominated for favorite rap artist, too. Minaj has been attracting extra attention recently; her very public feud with Mariah Carey on American Idol culminated in a strange gun threat, but most seem sure the ‘diva-off’ is being played up by Fox to boost the talent show’s viewership.

Elsewhere in the awards, teenage singer Bieber landed three nominations this year, tying with British boy band One Direction, Maroon 5, Drake and R&B star Usher. Adele and Taylor Swift – who dominated the awards last year - received one nomination apiece. Swift will fight for female country artist against Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert, while Adele was nominated in the favorite adult contemporary artist category alongside Kelly Clarkson and Train. The AMA’s - which will be celebrating its 40th anniversary this year - are determined by fans through online voting, which starts on Tuesday. The ceremony and performance show will be broadcast live from Los Angeles on November 18.
