Kelly Clarkson announced this week that she and her fiancé Brandon Blackstock have decided that they cannot wait until their scheduled wedding date this fall and have instead decided to skip town and elope somewhere. A big decision like this was always going to turn a few heads and start up rumours, and that is exactly what happened as a number of people began speculating that the main reason the two have decided to bring the wedding date forward is because Kelly is pregnant and the pair wanted to be wedded before their child was born.

Keen to jump on the defensive, Kelly has since followed up the statement she made on Wednesday (21 August) to People Magazine that she is eloping with another statement, this time saying that she and Brandon are doing it out of sheer love and not because she is expecting. The American Idol winner has since denied the pregnancy rumours, saying that she is eloping for "one reason" only; so that she and Brandon can enjoy a private, intimate ceremony rather than any grand soirée like they had initially planned.

The singer took to Twitter late on Thursday (22 August) night to dismiss the pregnancy rumours, tweeting, "FYI ....Brandon & I are getting married & no I am not pregnant. We are eloping for one reason only. We both want an intimate ceremony."

Clarkson and talent manager Blackstock have been dating since February 2012, having known each other for a number of year prior as Clarkson was managed by Blackstock's father. The two got engaged in December 2012 and were due to be married in October this year, however that will be happening a little sooner than expected.
