Kendall Jenner has taken a big step towards achieving the Holy Grail for fashion models everywhere by landing a cover of Vogue magazine – but not the front cover.

The 20 year old model will appear on the front of a special subscriber’s edition of the prestigious publication that will appear only in Los Angeles and New York. It’s only one more leap to getting on the actual front cover of the fashion bible and therefore following in the footsteps of her half-sister Kim Kardashian and brother-in-law Kanye West.

However, posing in a Proenza Schouler bikini for the photography icon Mario Testino is no mean feat for such a prodigiously young talent, and it seems that the reality TV star and model, with 52 million Instagram followers and counting, is closing in on world domination.

The April edition’s writer Robert Sullivan (who also composed the piece about Kimye back in 2014 when they graced the cover) says in the feature piece that Kendall is rapidly becoming one of the biggest forces in the fashion industry.

“Kendall Jenner's arrival in the fashion world isn't quite out of nowhere, and only two years after walking her first Marc Jacobs show, she is less like a player than a small planet, with connections to a universe of celebrities and models and designers, and with about as many followers on Instagram as there are residents of South Korea.”

In the article itself, Jenner says she believes that her success is down to being “organic” and “a mystery”. “It has to be organic. It means you can't totally plan it out… you don't want to do too many posts. You want to leave them wanting to come back.”
