Lamar was named Lyricist of the Year for the fourth year in a row, and his song Alright earned him the Impact Track and Best Hip-Hop Video prizes.

Big Sean's hit Blessings with Drake and Kanye West won him the Best Collabo, Duo or Group (sic) trophy as well as the People's Champ award, while his song IDFWU featuring E-40 was named the Best Club Banger.

Canadian star Drake also took home prizes for MVP of the Year and Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse for his My Way Remix with Fetty Wap. The latter star earned two more awards for Who Blew Up (Best Newcomer) and Track of the Year for his chart topper Trap Queen.

Fetty Wap was unable to attend the Atlanta, Georgia prizegiving, as he is still recovering from a motorcycle accident which occurred earlier this month (Oct15).

Other winners included J. Cole (Best Live Performer and Album Of The Year, 2014 Forest Hills Drive), Dr. Dre (Hustler of the Year), DJ Mustard (DJ of the Year and Producer of the Year) and Future (Best Mixtape, 56 Nights).

Meanwhile, music veteran Scarface, real name Brad Jordan, was honoured for his career achievements with the I Am Hip-Hop Award.

Reports suggest he was arrested shortly after the prizegiving over unpaid child support.

The ceremony, which aired in the U.S. on Tuesday (13Oct15), was filmed in Atlanta, Georgia, on Friday (09Oct15). The show was hosted by Snoop Dogg and included performances from Sean 'Diddy' Combs and Lil' Kim, Travis Scott, T.I. and Young Dro.
