The last few years have been somewhat of a ride for Kendrick Lamar, who received critical acclaim with Section.80, then matched that critical acclaim with Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, added fiscal success to the mix.

Kendrick LamarKendrick Lamar was widely considered to have been robbed, even by Mackelmore, who 'robbed' him

The Grammys were expected to be Lamar’s, but a surprising win for Mackelmore has distracted people from the facts: Kendrick is the most active rapper out there at the moment, and despite a text from the unexpected winner suggested he was robbed, the wheels of the brand keep rolling.

"That text surprised me, but Macklemore is a genuine dude," said Lamar in an interview with Billboard alongside Schoolboy Q. "However it panned out, I wish him much success. He touched people’s souls, and no one can take that away. Really, the whole GRAMMY moment was incredible. Not everyone gets that shot."

Anthony Tiffith of Top Dawg Entertainment - which is Lamar's label - indicated plans to release a new Kendrick Lamar album in September 2014. Tiffith also suggested that Black Hippy - the super group consisting of Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, and Jay Rock - will likely release their debut album in 2014.

Things are looking good for TDE, who should be celebrating another No.1 next week with Schoolboy Q’s Oxymorons projected to shift 150,000 copies and top the Billboard 200. According to Lamar, Oxymoron is a bona fide “classic gangsta rap album.”

He added: “Thinking back to when we were all in the studio, planning these strategies out, starving together and really waiting for the day to come, for my album to drop, for his album to drop. Now it came and it’s like n****s really, really put in the work and dedication, so I’m proud from the jump. When I first met Q, he wasn’t rappin’. He was on some other stuff.”
