Kevin Bacon admits he's fighting a ''losing battle'' against his own name.

The popular actor has revealed he's spent his entire life facing meat-related jokes and has simply given up trying to defend himself.

Kevin explained: ''You have the last name Bacon, stuff comes up. Bacon, food jokes. When you spend your life dealing with it, to keep denying it and get irritated by it, I was fighting a losing battle.''

Meanwhile, Kevin also advised regular members of the public against taking relationship advice from celebrities, even though he and his wife Kyra Sedgewick have been married for 26 years.

Asked by Entertainment Tonight to explain the secret to a lasting marriage, the 57-year-old star said: ''Whatever you do, don't listen to celebrities on advice on how to stay married. That's my secret.''

Earlier this year, Kevin admitted he had sex to get over losing most of his money.

The married couple were victims of Benie Madoff's 2008 fraudulent Ponzi scheme but said seeing their fortune disappear never had a damaging impact on their marriage.

He said: ''I don't think there was a moment where it was like, that thing happened and then we got p***ed at each other. It was sort of the opposite.

''We kind of went, 'Holy s**t. Let's... I don't know. Let's have sex or something. It's free!'''
