Sosie Bacon has been named Miss Golden Globe 2014. The honorary award is awarded annually by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA). The award is usually presented to the daughter or son of a celebrity and first began in 1963 although it was not properly established - in an annual fashion - until 1971.

21-year-old Sosie has worked alongside her parents Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick on a number of projects. She made her debut in Loverboy, a film directed by her father, and has since acted alongside her mother in The Closer.

The selection party, held in West Hollywood on Thursday night (21st November), was hosted by HFPA and InStyle magazine. Theo Kingma, the President of the HFPA, made the announcement and said "As we all know, she comes from a very talented family and this gets us one degree closer to Kevin Bacon."

Sosie joins the dozens of celebrity offspring who have acted as Miss (or Mr) Golden Globe since its establishment. Notably, these include Melanie Griffith and her daughter Dakota Johnson (who has recently been cast in Fifty Shades of Grey); Bruce Willis and Demi Moore's daughter Rumer; and Francesca Eastwood, the daughter of Clint Eastwood and Frances Fisher. Another of Clint Eastwood's children, Kathryn, his daughter with Jacelyn Reeves, also won the award in 2005. This year the award went to Sam Fox, the son of Michael J. Fox and Tracey Pollan.

Sosie will help out at the Golden Globes, which will be held on January 12th. The ceremony will be aired live on NBC at 8pm ET.
