The Captive Trailer

Matthew is a typical loving father who takes a day trip with his young daughter Cassandra in his truck, stopping off at a roadside diner along the way to pick up pie for lunch. He's only gone a few minutes but by the time he returns to his vehicle he discovers that Cass is gone. She's nowhere to be found, and to make matters worse, when he reports her disappearance as an abduction to the police he is the first suspect in the case. The incident puts a deep strain on his marriage to her mother Tina, who doesn't know whether to blame him for letting her out of his sight or suspect his involvement herself. Cosmopolis Review

Good
Artful, intelligent and wilfully obtuse, Cronenberg uses his skill to hold our interest through this oddity of a film. But it's difficult to engage with such fragmented film, especially when its big themes are hidden in overwritten dialog.

Eric (Pattinson) is a 28-year-old billionaire who wants a haircut. As he climbs into his high-tech limousine, his security chief (Durand) warns about traffic problems because the US President's in Manhattan. En route, Eric continues his routine, meeting his computer expert (Baruchel), theoretician (Morton) and financial advisor (Hampshire), who talks to him during his daily prostate exam.

He also sees his new wife (Gadon) several times, has sex with two women (Binoche and McKenzie), endures an anarchists' riot, gets a pie in the face and confronts a man (Giamatti) who wants to kill him.

As he is transported in his lavish stretched limousine across Manhattan to get a haircut, self-centred billionaire Eric Packer's day soon collapses into meltdown as a visit from the President of the United States spurs a series of chaotic riots and groups of people protesting against the country's political future. Eric watches powerlessly the demolition of everything he holds dear and him and his associates begin to find clues amongst the disturbances that lead him to one chilling truth; his impending assassination. Will Eric manage to save his empire from total destruction, or will it drive him to the brink of madness?

Based on the novel of the same name by Don De Lillo, this action packed drama film is a frenzied mix of violence, politics, sex and money that will have you clutching on to the edge of your seat. Directed by David Cronenberg, the talented director of 'The Fly', 'Dead Ringers', 'A History of Violence' and 'A Dangerous Method', this fantastic motion picture has been selected to compete for the Palme d'Or at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.

Starring breakthrough 'Twilight' heartthrob Robert Pattinson as Eric Packer, 'Cosmopolis' is set to be released in the UK on June 15th 2012.

Directed by: David Cronenberg

Starring: Robert Pattinson, Jay Baruchel, Kevin Durand, Paul Giamatti, Juliette Binoche, Sarah Gadon, Mathieu Amalric, Emily Hampshire and Patricia McKenzie

Real Steel Review

Good
Undemanding audiences will love this rousing father-son tale of redemption set amid the cacophonous crashing of boxing robots. But the script is seriously contrived, and the movie is directed without even an inkling of subtlety.

In the near future, Charlie (Jackman) is an ex-boxer who now controls massive robots that have taken over the sport. A stubborn failure buried in debt, he has no interest in his 11-year-old son Max (Goyo), whose mother has just died, but agrees to care for him until his rich aunt and uncle (Davis and Rebhorn) return from holiday. But Max is far more savvy with robots than his dad. And with the help of Dad's lovelorn pal Bailey (Lilly), Max defies Charlie's expectations with his scrapheap robot Atom.

Robin Hood Review

Excellent
Ridley Scott and his usual Oscar-winning crewmates turn the familiar old English legend into a robust, thumping epic. The pacing is a bit uneven, but it keeps us thoroughly engaged.

Robin Longstride (Crowe) fought alongside King Richard (Danny Huston) in the crusades but returned to England under shady circumstances with two of his archer buddies (Grimes and Doyle) and a beefy fighter (Durand). Heading to Nottingham to honour an oath, he meets Sir Walter (von Sydow) and his feisty daughter-in-law Marian (Blanchett), who are being squeezed out of their land by the Sheriff (Macfadyen). But there are bigger problems, as Godfrey (Strong) marauds through the country with an army of French goons, plotting to steal the country from the vain new King John (Isaac).
