In the midst of a very busy week for Kevin Hart, which includes the release of his latest flick ‘The Wedding Ringer’ and hosting the Jan. 17 episode of ‘Saturday Night Live,’ the comedian is attracting more attention for making some controversial comments about playing gay characters.

In a recent radio interview with The Breakfast Club on New York's Power 105.1, Hart has angered many listeners after explaining that he refuses to take on homosexual roles because of what "people are going to think" if he were to do so.

"I can't [play a gay character] because I don't think I'm really going to dive into that role 100 percent, because of the insecurities about myself trying to play that part," the 35-year-old comedian told hosts of the Breakfast Club on Friday’s show (Jan 16th). "What I think people are going to think while I'm trying to do this is going to stop me from playing that part the way I'm supposed to."

Hart also revealed he turned down the role of Alpa Chino in 2008's comedy ‘Tropic Thunder,’ which eventually was given to Brandon T. Jackson. Although the stand-up comic said he “appreciates and respects” the gay community, he also added, "The dude, he was doing a lot of stuff in the draft that I read. It was real flagrant. ... I was like, 'I can't do this.’”

Although many people may find Hart’s comments offensive, he has previously been very cautious when discussing issues revolving around sexuality. In early 2014, the ‘Ride Along’ actor said in a Reddit AMA that he will never make jokes about the gay community because, “It's just a sensitive topic and I respect people of all orientations. So, it's just best left alone.”
