The box office might be slow, but Sony is thriving.
Think Like A Man Too struck gold at the box office this weekend, coming out of the three-day period with a cool $30 million domestic. At $24 million in production costs (according to Variety) the film is already a winner for Sony.
Think Like A Man Too topped Sony's previous hit, 22 Jump Street.
The film couldn’t quite match its predecessor’s $33 million takings from 2012, but is still a considerable success for the studio.

“It’s not bad being number one,” said Rory Bruer, Sony Pictures president of worldwide distribution. “The girls versus the guys element and getting the perspective of both sexes is something that’s always appealing to folks.”

The studio is having a very successful quarter so far. The second movie in the charts this week is 22 Jump Street – coincidentally, also a Sony production. It fell behind from its top spot last week with just $29 million .

Overall, the box office hit roughly $151 million, down 37.4% from the same period a year ago, when “World War Z” and “Monsters University” vied for moviegoers’ attention.
“It’s pretty lackluster overall, but especially looking at the same weekend last year,” said Phil Contrino, vice president and chief analyst at BoxOffice.com. “These were not good comparisons.”
The other big release this weekend is Jersey Boys - Clint Eastwood's screen adaptation of the eponymous Broadway musical, debuted to a disappointing $13,5 million.
