Residents of Marina del Rey in California have united to file a lawsuit against Khloe Kardashian and Kris Jenner over distress caused by a massive fireworks display that took place last week, according to TMZ.

A dozen outraged residents of the upscale harbour community are reportedly suing the Kardashian clan when they set off a massive 15 minute firework display as part of Khloe’s boyfriend James Harden’s birthday celebrations on Tuesday night (August 25th). The residents in question say they were woken up and “terrorised” by the midnight display, thinking that L.A. was “under attack”.

They are filing the suit in the small claims court of Los Angeles and are seeking damages of $7,500 each. Since no lawyers get involved in claims of this nature, the group of residents (reported to include a handful of celebrities) are hoping that they’ll get to meet Khloe and Kris face-to-face and let them know how “rude and supremely selfish” their actions were.

The celebrations were taking place on a yacht tied up in the bay, while the fireworks were set off from a barge that was moored just outside. The Sherriff’s Department received dozens of complaints about the incident from people living near the bay and as far away as L.A.’s west side.

However, Khloe told Entertainment Tonight on Friday that she got all the necessary permission she needed. “I got all the permits. Someone couldn’t release those fireworks if you didn’t get [one]. The company's licenses would've been revoked, so of course I got everything I had to do to do so. No one would just take that risk,” she commented.

Josh Gad, who famously voices Olaf in the hit Disney animation Frozen, was one of the people to tweet in reaction to the loud, midweek fireworks display. “To whomever planned fireworks at midnight on a Tues thank u. Sincerely parents of 2 children who just woke up thinking we were being shelled.” It’s not known whether he is one of the plaintiffs in the suit.
