P.S. When you’ve finished celebrating your birthday get me the fuck out of this Russian prison!
Popcorn at the ready, people! "24" returns to Fox tonight.
Much like it’s protagonist, 24 just can’t be killed off. Jack Bauer returns tonight as your favorite (well, someone’s favorite) government agent tonight and we’re bound to get some adrenaline-filled action sequences, along with a few plain WTF moments in true 24 style. 24: Live Another Day is the appropriately titled revival of the original series, which ran between 2001 and 2010. The revival was originally intended to be a movie, but the idea never got green-lit and it seemed like Jack was out for good. Lo and behold, Fox picked up the show for a reunion season and after months of promotion, it premieres tonight, May 5 at 8PM.
Jack Bauer might be back, but is anyone still watching?

The show's reboot is receiving huge hype
One of The USA’s longest running TV dramas returns to screens on Monday, May 5 (Wednesday 7 for The U.K). It sees Jack Bauer return to our screens in a new series of 24. Kiefer Sutherland has expressed worry regarding the legacy of the show, but is confident that this truncated (the season is 12 episodes, not 24) will only add to the impressive back-catalogue left behind by the popular thriller.
Jack Bauer sneaks about in 24: Live Another Day
“I felt really confident about the eight seasons we had done, and there was no different approach for me. We weren’t trying to retell the story. … It was just kind of getting back into the character and the nervousness of opening up the can again,” explained Sutherland told Niagara Frontier Publications in a conference call from New York that featured many different journalists. Like an ancient Roman version of 2012, this disaster epic is a pure guilty pleasure, sparking plenty of laughter along with the massive effects-based carnage. It also helps that the screen is packed with muscle men in skimpy skirts. The actors dive in with gusto, adding plenty of personality to the ridiculous dialogue, while director Paul W.S. Anderson shamelessly ramps up the action mayhem.
It begins in AD 79 Britain, where Roman Senator Corvus (Kiefer Sutherland) is on the rampage, slaughtering the entire Celtic community of young Milo (Kit Harington), who is taken to Londinium to become a gladiator. When he rises to fame, he's transferred to Pompeii, where he immediately catches the eye of young noblewoman Cassia (Emily Browning), much to the scowly disapproval of her politically active parents (Carrie-Anne Moss and Jared Harris). An outsider among the local slaves, Milo is befriended by tough guy fellow gladiator Atticus (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje). And when Corvus comes to town to claim Cassia as his bride, Milo decides to take a dangerous stand for both revenge and the girl. Meanwhile, Mount Vesuvius is rumbling, getting ready to unleash plenty of movie-style havoc.
It's impossible to watch this without thinking of the cheesy, similarly styled TV series Rome or Spartacus, with their corny melodramas, excessive violence and bare flesh. Even though this is on a much bigger scale with seriously enormous 3D special effects, it's just as cheesy. And equally entertaining as well. Harington is terrific as the hunky hero, building much stronger chemistry with the honourable Akinnuoye-Agbaje than the distressed Browning. And seasoned veterans like Harris, Moss and Sutherland clearly have a great time chomping madly on the scenery as Pompeii burns.

24 Live Another Day sees Jack Bauer fight terrorism AND the American Government
And while the 24 spot during the Super Bowl certainly reignited passions for America’s favourite all-action hero, this new teaser trailer gives us a first look at real footage from the show set in London. It’s a big deal, basically.

192 episodes, and Kiefer hasn't watched a single one...
Kiefer Sutherland will always be synonymous with the hit TV thriller 24, but that doesn't mean he watches his own show. The actor admitted to Jonathan Ross that, while he knows what happens (duh) he's not about to watch himself on screen - not since Stand By Me.
Kiefer Sutherland Has Never Watched an Episode of '24'
"I haven't watched an episode of 24, no. But I know how it goes, I have read the script," he explained to the chat show host in an episode that comes out tomorrow (Sat 7) via The Mirror. It's not since Stand By Me that Sutherland has peered at himself on screen, and the experience of that has made him vow to never, ever do it again.

Oscar winner Helen Mirren proves anyone can twerk at Harvard's 2014 Hasty Pudding Woman Of The Year awards.
Helen Mirren waves at her Harvard crowd
The Queen actress proved to be a brilliant sport as the Harvard University Hasty Pudding Theatricals presented her with their annual pudding pot prize after a traditional drag parade from the troupe which happens to be the oldest undergraduate drama ensemble in America. She took part in the customary roast which saw her shake her rear on stage in what we have come to know as 'twerking'.
Check out the first set photos from the '24' shoot in London.
US drama 24 has decamped to London where Kiefer Sutherland, Mary Lynn Rajskub and co. are filming the show's newest season. Judging by the early photos taken on set, the new season looks to be as tense and action-packed as ever. Kiefer Sutherland's former counter terrorist unit agent turned fugitive seemed to be sporting a nasty-looking head wound, with some pretty realistic blood and bruising, alongside his usual leather jacket.
Ouch! Kiefer Seems To Have Had A Bit Of An Accident.
However, it was Mary Lynn Rajskub's dramatic transformation into a very 'girl with the dragon tattoo'-esque new version of her character, Chloe O'Brian. The actress was snapped with a spiky new haircut, heavy black make-up, silver jewellery, biker clothing and a host of new piercings - a far cry from her usually plainly-dressed look.
'24: Live Another Day' will begin with a feature-length episode followed by a full season
24 will be back, and it's returning to our screens sooner than you may have expected. Jack Bauer himself Kiefer Sutherland revealed the plans to launch a new 12-episode story arc, due to air on FOX this spring, beginning with a feature-length episode followed by the usual hour-long instalment.
Sutherland is back as Jack Bauer...terrorist beware!
Bauer will return to kick some terrorist a-hole, with the new season finding him on the run in London. At the press conference announcing the new details for the show, it was also revealed that Sutherland will be joined by original cast-mates Mary Lynn Rajskub, Kim Raver and William Devane, as well as a plethora of new faces. Among them, TV actors Yvonne Strahovski, Giles Matthey, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Michael Wincott and Judy Davis will appear in unspecified roles.

The legendary game has a new star
Kiefer Sutherland is known for his role as Jack Bauer in the high-octane thrill-ride that was 24, endearing himself to TV-buffs across the land, but he’ll be popular with gaming nerds now, too, as he’s to voice the hugely popular video game character, Solid Snake in the upcoming game, Metal Gear Solid V.
Konami, the company responsible Metal gear, revealed the news today in a pre-recorded video presentation prior to the E3 Expo – the biggest date in the calendar for gamers. “This time, with Metal Gear Solid V, the themes are a little different from previous games in the series,” said series creator Hideo Kojima in the video. “We’re taking on some very heavy subjects such as race and revenge. I wanted Snake to have a more subdued performance, expressed through subtle facial movements and tone of voice rather than words.” For the Kojima, the legendary games producer, Sutherland was perfect for the role. “Furthermore,” Kojima said, “the game takes place in 1984, when Snake is 49 years old. Therefore, we needed someone who could genuinely convey the facial and vocal qualities of a man in his late 40′s."

We can't wait for the new condensed thrill ride.
A stripped down, thrill-enhanced (if that’s possible) version of 24 has been announced for next year. That’s right, Jack Bauer is going to be back battling terrorism in a remarkably small amount of time.
In its pomp, 24 was one of the most-watched TV shows around, regularly attracting up to 15 million as Bauer saved the nation from exterior threats. Fox Entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly said 24 showrunner Howard Gordon, said he was "really energised" by the idea. "They always had this idea of someday doing a feature film. I think they all agreed that '24' compressed into two hours is not 24," said Reilly. "What they'll be able to do is go in chronological order of the day, but skip hours … Now we'll get the best part." Sutherland, the show’s star, said: "The response to 24 is unlike anything I have ever experienced as an actor before. To have the chance to reunite with the character, Jack Bauer, is like finding a lost friend. The story ideas from Howard Gordon are exciting and fresh, and will not disappoint." Although 24 started as a BBC show, BSKYB soon bought the rights when they saw its potential. The new 12-hour-format will air next year (possible May) on Fox.
Kiefer Sutherland looking suave
'24' will be coming back for another series next year.
Fox have announced that they are planning on bringing back the hugely successful series 24 for a one-off series, with many of the original cast and crew returning for the new series. Kiefer Sutherland, who has just had his current series Touch axed by Fox, will of course be returning as anti-terrorist agent Jack Bauer, with original show producer Howard Gordon also coming back.
The series will not be following the orignal format however, because rather than feature 24 episodes per season, to signify each hour of the day, this season will only feature 12 episode. The new show run, officially titled 24: Live Another Day, will jump certain hours, but will still cover a 24 hour time period.

24: Live Another Day will take place several years after Jack's escape from the American and Russian governments.
Everyone’s favourite terrorism drama 24 is making a return to television next year in a special 12-hour event, Fox announced today (Monday 13th May). Kiefer Sutherland makes his much-anticipated return as the unrelenting Jack Bauer – a man who will stop at nothing to spot terrorism.
“The response to ‘24’ is unlike anything I have ever experienced as an actor before,” Mr. Sutherland said in a statement. “To have the chance to reunite with the character, Jack Bauer, is like finding a lost friend.” He thanked the producers and Fox for the opportunity and added, “Make no mistake, my goal is to knock your socks off. See you soon.” Instead of every episode representing an hour, in a series of 24, though, this season will only comprise of 12 episodes for a 12-week run. Howard Gordon, an executive producer of the series, said in a statement on Monday that the Bauer character “has evolved through the years, and this new and exciting event series format is perfect to tell the next chapter of his story and continue to reflect how the world is changing.”
In its day, 24 would regularly attract 10-15 million viewers and one of the most popular television shows of all time. It became particularly popular on DVD due to the ‘24’ format, meaning it was ripe for ‘binge viewing’, recently made popular by streaming services such as Netflix.

Jack Bauer is back for his latest mission in '24: Live Another Day'
As expected, Fox Broadcasting Company has announced the return of Jack Bauer and 24 for a brand new series. The high-octane saga starring Kieifer Sutherland as a heroic agent will once again follow the pulse-pounding fast-paced format with split screens and storylines representing one hour of real-life time. The new series is titled '24: Live Another Day'.
"It's great to have Jack back. '24' redefined the drama genre, and as we reimagine the television miniseries, this iconic show will again break new ground for the network," said Fox chairman Kevin Reilly. "The series remains a global sensation, and everyone at Fox is thrilled to be back at work with Kiefer, Howard and the incredibly creative '24' team." The news series once again sees Sutherland team with show-runner Howard Gordon, who Fox say pitched the idea of a new series. "When Howard came to us saying he had an idea for a new chapter of '24,' he quite simply had us at 'hello,'" said 20th Century Fox Television Chairmen Gary Newman and Dana Walden. "'24' is a signature series for this studio, beloved by critics and audiences worldwide. Howard's idea to revive the franchise as an event series couldn't be timelier, and with the brilliant Kiefer Sutherland on board to reprise his iconic role, we can't wait to get started." It does make you wonder whether Fox's cancellation of Sutherland's 'Touch' had anything to do with the decision? "Ok Keifer, we're getting rid of Touch.but we've got something else."
Nevertheless, the television big-wigs have certainly been rolled out for this announcement. Imagine Television Chairman Brian Graze said, "I'm both excited and proud that Howard, Kiefer, and I, along with ours partners at 20th and Fox, have this new opportunity to give '24' fans what they've been asking for - more Jack Bauer. It's been my experience that people love Jack Bauer because he's a guy who cuts through the red tape and gets the hardest things done. I am certain '24: Live Another Day' will again have a huge impact on our culture."

After the flop that was Touch, it's no wonder that Sutherland is eager to reprise his best known role.
After the cancellation of Keifer Sutherland’s supernatural/police procedural crossover Touch, the actor is now free to take on new projects – or old ones as it seems a revival of 24 is on the horizon. Touch, a series about a police detective, who discovers that his son has supernatural powers, never really took off, beyond being a Sutherland vehicle. After Fox moved it to a low-viewership Friday slot for its miraculously renewed second season, but as expected, the cancellation was announced during this Monday’s Upfront presentation.
But as one door closed, another opens, as the network is reportedly in talks with Sutherland to bring back the show for a limited run. The series finally left the story open-ended, with Sutherland’s character, Jack Bauer, escaping and since then, people have been speculating about a potential movie. When the movie plans were scrapped last year, Sutherland was reportedly “furious” with the decision and that is why he took up the opportunity for a more relaxed show with Touch. He commented last year that one of the reasons for taking Touch was that the character was a complete change of pace from the intense Jack Bauer. Even so, after taking a break from 24, Sutherland has had nothing but good things to say about the process of working on the show and has indicated that he would be more than happy to reprise the role, which put him on the map.
At 46, Sutherland reckons he can still take on the antics of Bauer with ease.
24 is coming back, with original star Kiefer Sutherland down to reprise his role as Jack Bauer.
Deadline reported last night (May 9) that Jack Bauer isn't quite finished kicking ass and taking names, as FOX are apparently in the process of bringing back the 'real-time' action series 24 as a "limited series." Of course 24 would be nothing without it's lead man, and it looks as though Kiefer Sutherland has agreed to bring Bauer back to the small screen.
Following Deadline's report, 24 executive producer David Fury confirmed that the series has indeed been given the go ahead, sharing the news via his Twitter feed. Retweeting the original story from Deadline, he added: "Yep, I'm pulling double duty w/TYRANT. Whoo & Hoo!" Before adding, in reply to a question from a fan, that the reboot would be a "limited series" with 12 episodes altogether.
