US drama 24 has decamped to London where Kiefer Sutherland, Mary Lynn Rajskub and co. are filming the show's newest season. Judging by the early photos taken on set, the new season looks to be as tense and action-packed as ever. Kiefer Sutherland's former counter terrorist unit agent turned fugitive seemed to be sporting a nasty-looking head wound, with some pretty realistic blood and bruising, alongside his usual leather jacket.

However, it was Mary Lynn Rajskub's dramatic transformation into a very 'girl with the dragon tattoo'-esque new version of her character, Chloe O'Brian. The actress was snapped with a spiky new haircut, heavy black make-up, silver jewellery, biker clothing and a host of new piercings - a far cry from her usually plainly-dressed look.

It looks like the makers of 24 are making sure that there'll be absolutely no doubt about where the new season was filmed, cramming in as many of the London clichés as possible, including a black cab with the Union flag emblazoned on it as well as a red post box and phone box. Why, we're surprised they didn't throw in a few Queen's guards and a corgi for good measure!

After the end of the last series, Kiefer's Jack Bauer remains a fugitive and being pursued by CIA agent Kate Morgan (Yvonne Strahovski) is after him. "In the minds of the CIA, he's not quite Osama bin Laden but he's a fugitive of a high order," explained executive producer Evan Katz, via The Daily Mail. "We will learn he has a mission. Whether it's good or dark we don't know, but the CIA is determined to catch him," Katz added.

There's No Doubt As To Where '24' Is Being Filmed.

The action in the new season will kick off four years after the events of the last, which could explain Chloe's fierce transformation. Unlike previous series where there were 24 episodes, there'll only be 12 this season. "I'm terrified. I won't lie to you," said Sutherland, prior to shooting, adding, "Until we start shooting, I'm about as anxious and wound up as I've been in a long time."

That's not to say the new season won't be any less explosive than usual: writer Howard Gordon explained that the action is merely condensed and the new format will offer exciting new opportunities for the crew. "We're going to take advantage of the time," he said. "The story will be 12 hours over a day, but we'll take advantage of the fact that we can go from seven o'clock to nine o'clock."
