Adele

British singer Adele became a US Vogue cover star in March 2012, but it wasn't without its fair share of controversy. A lot of this was too do with the alleged excessive amount of airbrushing that had gone on to make Adele 'Vogue worthy.' Many outraged fans took to the internet to exclaim their distaste for Adele’s new photoshopped look. The, singer who had long been known for promoting a body positive image didn't look that much like herself in her appearance on the magazine's cover and there were further allegations that Vogue had purposely tried to hide her figure by not using full length shots.

Michelle Obama

Does a first lady belong on the cover of Vogue? Well some didn't think so  and thought that Michelle had better things to do than her second Vogue cover shoot last April. Some thought the First Lady was just becoming a bit too over exposed in the media. There's no denying though that Michelle has become a bit of style icon as well as a positive role model for young girls, so why not have her on the Vogue cover? After all she’s not the first president’s wife to grace a magazine cover and she certainly wont be the last.

Lena Dunham

Lena Dunham

We're only just getting over the controversy surrounding Lena Dunham’s Vogue cover in February. Some where very happy to see Dunham staring out at them from the cover of  the high end glossy, while others thought there was something off about the pics. The ‘others’ were actually feminist blog  Jezebel who offered a bounty of $10,000 for the unretouched photos. They photos were eventually handed over and the full extent of the Dunham's photoshopping was revealed and really, it wasn’t all that much. Still, the debate raged on with Lena saying Jezebel had ‘made such a monumental error in their approach to feminism… It felt gross.’ Many sided with Dunham and once again another Vogue cover of a prominent female was reduced to a photoshop debate.
