Kanye West's expectant wife gushed about the benefits of DIClegis in a social media post last month (Jul15), when she revealed she had signed on as a spokesperson for the brand after taking the pills to combat her own pregnancy ailments.

Taking to Instagram.com, she wrote, "Have you heard about this? As you guys know my #morningsickness has been pretty bad. I tried changing things about my lifestyle, like my diet, but nothing helped, so I talked to my doctor. He prescribed me #DIClegis, I felt a lot better and most importantly, it's been studied and there was no increased risk to the baby. I'm so excited and happy with my results that I'm partnering with Duchesnay USA to raise awareness about treating morning sickness."

The message was also posted on Kardashian's Twitter and Facebook pages, but the reality TV star's online endorsement has landed makers at the Duchesnay pharmaceutical company in trouble with officials at America's Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as it failed to include the required health and safety warnings.

FDA officials fired off a "Warning Letter" to Duchesnay bosses last week (ends07Aug15), branding the post "misleading because it presents various efficacy claims for DIClegis, but fails to communicate any risk information".

They have ordered Duchesnay executives to "immediately cease misbranding" the drug or remove it from the market.

The company has until 21 August (15) to reply to the demand, and a Duchesnay spokesperson tells Bloomberg.com they "will take quick action in responding to the FDA's letter and immediately and effectively address any issues".

Kardashian, who is due to give birth to a son in December (15), has since removed the posts in question from her Instagram and Facebook accounts, although her tweet still remains online. She has yet to comment on the controversy.
