Sports Illustated Model Chrissy Teigen Hits Back At Internet Bullies

Christine Teigen Kim Novak

Model Chrissy Teigen has slammed internet bullies who suggested that she has either gained weight or is pregnant. Sports Illustrated cover girl Teigen, who married singer John Legend last year, posted the photograph of herself on her Instagram account last Thursday but received less than satisfactory feedback.

Teigen posted a screenshot of her follower's reactions to her photographs, many of whom had commented on the slender model’s weight. Teigen fired back, “Honestly f**k you all, why do I even open anything up to you. In what other real life situation would you walk up to someone and tell them they’re fat or gained weight? Seriously you are POS. I don’t know why I am always surprised when you let me down. I gotta get used to this s**t. It’s amazing to me that I am told to get over the a**holes, but the a**holes are never told to stop being pieces of s**t.”

Kim Novak Donald Trump

Kim Novak may have starred in Vertigo, one of the greatest movies all time, but that hasn’t left her exempt from a bit of Hollywood bullying. The criticisms were centred around her attendance at the Oscars ceremony in March, when her physical appearance came under scrutiny.

Potts, Kettles And Twitter Meltdowns: Kim Novak's Oscar Appearance Triggers Chain Reaction

Kim Novak Donald Trump

One of the uglier stories that emerged out of Sunday night’s Oscars was about the thousands of Twitter users, commenting on Kim Novak’s appearance – her apparent plastic surgery to be exact. The barrage of tweets started during Novak’s time onstage, presenting the Best Animated Feature award to Frozen – an unfortunate combo, if ever there was one. Novak’s critics found the connection hilarious, so most of the tweets went something like: “Kim Novak saying "Frozen" made me laugh because it looks like her face is melting.” Yeah, not a very pleasant reaction.

Donald Trump displayed a remarkable lack of self awareness when he tweeted about Novak.

Still, there might be hope for the world. After the first wave of trolling, some voices of reason started to chime. On Tuesday, two days after the Oscars, a Twitter search for Kim Novak yields completely different results. One of the top tweets today read: “I'm less horrified by what Kim Novak did to her face than I am by the society that grants women power based on a narrow beauty ideal.”

#Frozen: Kim Novak Takes To Oscars Stage, Online Chaos Ensues

Kim Novak

Whenever a celebrity does anything remotely public these days, you can bet the snarky Twitter comments aren’t far behind. Case in point: Kim Novak’s presenting the Oscar for Best Animated feature last night. Of course a bunch of people had to make the highly original Frozen joke that’s still floating around Twitter ten hours later. Despite the fact that Novak has battled with mental illness and cancer and is still continuing her career despite those problems, the internet is a harsh and unforgiving place.

Kim Novak
Hopefully Novak hasn't checked Twitter this morning.

Tweets ranging from the simple “Kim Novak's face just won for 'Frozen” to the elaborately crafted “Kim Novak was just safely transported back to the Hollywood Wax Museum. #Oscars” The tweets are all referring to the fact that Novak has appears to have had some work done. Unfortunately, the category Novac was presenting meant that everyone had free reign to go for the most obvious joke possible. Didn't they learn anything from watching Ellen host?

Picnic Review

Weak
I'd never seen or read Picnic before -- and judging from the happy title I assumed it would be a lighthearted comedy -- probably full of music and dancing. Man, I was wrong. This is a big and sappy melodrama, with William Holden a train-riding hobo who descends upon a small town on Labor Day (in time for the big picnic), and wreaks all manner of havoc on the local romance pecking order. Ultimately the film finally focuses on his relationship with the lovely Kim Novak -- a one-day affair that ends with a vague, interpretable conclusion. Whoop de do. All that, and there's no hot dogs.

Liebestraum Review

Very Good
Mike Figgis channels David Lynch and the Coen brothers' Barton Fink in this atmospheric neo-noir about a journalist who gets involved with an old friend's wife on the eve of the destruction of a historic cast-iron building. Ironically enough, the building is the site of a years-earlier triple-murder/suicide, in which a vengeful husband killed two cheating lovers.... Putting this all together isn't simple, as Figgis's way-convoluted tale takes you down many a dream-sequenced road. But the ride is a fun one, and the cast is surprisingly apt.

Vertigo Review

Essential
Awesome and brilliant, Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo was recently restored, and its power is immense. Jimmy Stewart never did finer work, and Hitchcock's masterpiece, though its meaning may be lost on many, reveals a man at his most obsessed -- an apt metaphor for Hitch himself. The restored Vertigo features vibrant colors and a crystal clear soundtrack, but it's the tale of Stewart's heights-fearing detective who gets caught up with the woman he's investigating that makes Vertigo such a treat. Old San Francisco has never looked more devious, and Hitchcock has never been better.
