Former Kiss star Peter Criss used his induction speech at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame gala on Thursday (10Apr14) to remind people about the importance of regular breast cancer check-ups for both men and women.

The rock veteran was diagnosed with the disease more commonly associated with females in 2008 and was successfully treated within the same year, but he still had cancer on his mind as he stepped onstage at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York as part of the Class of 2014.

Giving a special shout out to his doctor, Criss said, "I am now seven years cancer-free. I'm very proud of that...

"My doctor who saved my life, thank you so much, I would not be here without you."

He ended his speech with a health warning to his fans and peers, adding: "Remember, early detection will save your life."
