Kourtney Kardashian has proved her 3-year-old son Mason is the son of her long-term boyfriend Scott Disick. The reality television star has obtained proof, via a DNA test, that Disick is the father of her first born child.

Michael Girgenti, a male model filed a paternity suit last week (9th August), in which he claimed to have had sex with Kardashian in 2009. He alleges Mason is a result of their affair.

Girgenti alleges when he saw photographs of Mason he saw a striking resemblance and knew he was the father. He attempted to file for joint custody of Mason and requested DNA tests. A hearing was set for next month although the claims, owing to the new evidence, may now be dismissed.

In response to the allegations Kardashian's lawyer, Todd Wilson, declared Girgenti was merely publicity hunger and had falsified the claims. In a statement to TMZ, Wilson said "his claims are absurd and this is simply another shameful attempt to gain publicity and profit from fictional stories about my client."

Yesterday (15th August) Kardashian set "the record straight" by releasing a statement and the results of the DNA test. In the statement, reported by the L.A. Times, she said: "after three-and-a-half years of rumours and lies being spread by an individual I met briefly at a photo shoot, I am setting the record straight that Scott is Mason's father."

Kardashian has been dating Scott Disick since 2006 and the couple have two children together: 3-year-old Mason and 1-year-old Penelope.
