Caitlyn, who transitioned earlier this year, has become one of the most high profile transgender advocates in the U.S., if not the world. She used her speech, whilst receiving the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPYs, to draw attention to the importance of accepting other people. Caitlyn included frightening statistics concerning the level of violence against transgender people but her message was universal.

“If you want to call me names, make jokes, doubt my intentions, go ahead,” Caitlyn said in her speech. “Because the reality is I can take it. But for the thousands of kids out there coming to terms with being true to who they are, they shouldn’t have to take it. So for the people out there wondering what this is all about, whether it’s about courage or controversy or publicity, it’s about what happens from here.”

“It’s not just about one person. It’s about thousands of people. It’s not just about me. It’s about all of us accepting one another. We’re all different. It’s not a bad thing. It’s a good thing.”

Some members of the Jenner/Kardashian family were on hand to support Caitlyn at the ESPYs. Caitlyn’s six biological children, Kendall, Kylie, Burt, Brandon, Brody and Casey Jenner, were on hand alongside his three stepdaughters, Kourtney, Kim and Khloe Kardashian

His step-son, Rob Kardashian, did not attend the event. Neither did Kris although she watched Caitlyn speak in the televised broadcast of the ceremony.

Kris described her feelings towards Caitlyn’s speech whilst attending Amazon’s Summer Soiree at the Sunset Tower in Los Angeles on Thursday.

"I think it was amazing and very brave," Kris said of Caitlyn’s speech, as Us Weekly reports.

"I think she looked beautiful," she added.
