Thanks to FX series ‘American Crime Story: The People Vs O.J. Simpson’ the world is currently reliving the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and the subsequent trail of her former husband O.J. Simpson. But for Kris Jenner it’s a moment in time she’ll never forget and she still remembers exactly how she found out about her friend’s murder.

Kris JennerKris Jenner has opened up about the murder of her friend Nicole Brown Simpson.

Jenner had been friends with Nicole and O.J. for years, first meeting the former football star when she was just 17-years-old. But despite her close friendship with Nicole, Kris says she didn’t know there was abuse going on in the marriage until after her friend’s murder.

Appearing on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show', Kris revealed that she had plans to meet Nicole for lunch the day after the murder, where she believed Nicole was going to tell her what had been going on.

"[Before meeting for lunch] she said she wanted to show me some things and talk about what was in her safe," Kris explained. "Now, unfortunately, it all makes sense that that's probably what she wanted to reveal to me that next day, which broke my heart because I will always feel horrible that I didn't pay enough attention.”

When asked how she found out about Nicole’s death Kris said she had received a phone call from Nicole’s mother Judy. “That morning I had been coming back from taking the kids to school and I was supposed to meet Nicole. I was going to change and go and meet her and my assistant said Judy's on the phone and I said tell her I'll call her right back.”

"[My assistant] talked to Judy for a second and she said, 'You really need to take the call,'" Kris sad. "I picked up the phone and she said, 'Nicole's been shot.' And I said, 'What?' I said, 'Ok I am on my way. Where do I need to go?' She said, 'No, she didn't make it.'"

During the trail Kris’ ex-husband Robert Kardashian defended Simpson, something which caused a rift in the family. "It was painfully – it was just the whole entire – every single day it was something different," Kris said.

"And it was very difficult because my ex-husband [Robert Kardashian] was on one side, you know, I was kind of on the other, the kids were in the middle and it was trying to explain this to children and then O.J. had called. Everybody lost so much that night. You lost everything you knew – I can't even imagine being her family, her parents, her sister, were so devastated.”

In the FX series Kris is portrayed by actress Selma Blair, while David Schwimmer stars as Robert Kardashian. The show has already been hugely successful, which Kris thinks is down to a whole new generation who were not familiar with the case watching.

“I think it’s so popular with everybody because a whole other generation is watching this, some people for the first time,” Kris said. The series also stars Cuba Gooding, Jr. as O. J. Simpson and John Travolta as defence attorney Robert Shapiro.
