This wasn’t part of the plan. Following a hugely successful Kickstarter campaign and a great critical reception, the Veronica Mars movie has faced its first hiccup: backers who are in line to receive a digital copy of the film have faced technical difficulties, meaning they’re unable to download it.

The perk was part of the backing deal, and for those who paid $35 in support of the venture were left disappointed when technical issues blocked their paths.

"Please know that Warner Bros. have given Customer Support a lot of freedom to help make things right, so if you're having issues, please let them know," director Rob Thomas wrote on the film’s Kickstarter page in a bid to appease disappointed fans.

Thomas also defended the choice of Flixster in his response. "As you'll see in the original FAQ on our Kickstarter page, we've always planned to include Flixster as a digital distribution platform,” he said.

“But I also know that many of you use iTunes, Amazon or other platforms, and would prefer to claim your digital copies on your favorite service, so we hoped we'd also be able to arrange for more options. Unfortunately, it just wasn't possible. In the end, Flixster was the best option for getting the digital movie reward out to all of you, worldwide, at the same time."

In the long run, though, this will probably do down as a minor glitch in what has been a successful return for the cult detective drama. Veronica Mars’ allure as a TV show has been successfully translated to movie theatres, and many agree that fans of the franchise were more than satisfied with the film, which stayed true to the ethos of show.
