Kristen Stewart looked visually shocked on Friday, as she was named best supporting actress at France’s César Awards, making history in the process. The actress took home France’s version of the Oscar for her role in drama Clouds of Sils Maria, in which she starred opposite Juliette Binoche.

The actress appeared stunned when her name was read as the winner and she began her acceptance speech telling the audience, “OK here we go, I can’t even move by hands.” Stewart then proceeded to give her thank-yous in French before continuing in English.

The win makes Stewart the first American actress to receive the honour, after her nomination had made her the the first American woman to be in the running for a César in 30 years. The last American to take home the French award was Adrien Brody for his role in 2002’s The Pianist.

Stewart told reporters backstage, “The reasons why people make films here in France are very different from the reasons why people make movies in Hollywood and I prefer it here a little bit,” reports Vanity Fair. The 24 year old is also said to have revealed she will soon star in another French film, but declined to give any further details.

In the film Stewart plays the assistant of ageing theatre star, Maria Enders (Juliette Binoche) who tries unsuccessfully to seduce her boss. Chloë Grace Moretz also stars, while Olivier Assayas wrote and directed the drama.

Stewart was last seen on the big screen in the critically acclaimed Still Alice, opposite Julianne Moore, Alec Baldwin and Kate Bosworth. Based on Lisa Genova’s bestselling novel of the same name, Moore won a Golden Globe for the role and is nominated for an Academy Award at Sunday’s ceremony.
