Twilight actress Kristen Stewart has spoken out about why she doesn't often crack a grin photos.
The star of films including On the Road and Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart is often accused of being moody in the mainstream media because of her trademark pout. However, speaking to Elle US, Stewart set the record straight about her lack of smiles in public photographs.
This is the Kristen Stewart look we're most familiar with
"Now I feel like if I smiled for a paparazzi photo - not that I ever would - that's exactly what people would be desecrating me for," she told the magazine. "They'd be like, 'Now you're going to give it up, now you're a sellout.' Like, Okay. What do you want? What would you like?"
Kristen may have a point- there is a tremendous expectation upon young actresses for them to look and behave a certain way, and Kristen in particular has always come under fire for her appearence since she shot to fame in the Twilight franchise. Tabloids have been quick to lable her 'moody' because she doesn't smile all the time, and should she look a bit cheerier, it's likely people might think it's an act.
Yet can the public really expect stars to constantly look happy? After all, celebrities are people too, and most regular folk wouldn't take too kindly to being followed with a camera everywhere they go. Some might argue celebrities choose to be in the public eye, but certainly Stewart claims she had no idea how big Twilight would become.
Speaking of her life after the vampire film series ended, Kristen had a few words of wisdom: "As soon as you start thinking about your career as a trajectory - like, as if you're going to miss out on some wave or momentum - then you're never doing anything for yourself anyway. Then you're truly, actually, specifically working for the public. You're turning yourself into a bag of chips."
