Kristin Cavallari has been taken to hospital having been involved in a car crash in Chicago, it has been confirmed by multiple sources.

The former reality TV star’s vehicle was struck by another motorist on Thursday (January 21st), but her injuries are not believed to be serious. “She was hit by another driver in Chicago. She is doing fine and will be discharged from the hospital shortly,” her publicist told TMZ the same day.

She has suffered a dislocated elbow, but has otherwise been uninjured. A witness to the accident said that the 29 year old’s husband, Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, arrived at the hospital shortly after his wife was admitted. None of their three young children was with Cavallari in the car at the time.

The couple welcomed their first daughter, Saylor James, in November, having already had two sons, 3 year old Camden Jack and 1 year old Jaxon Wyatt. It’s been a difficult period for the couple recently, however, as Kristin’s brother Michael was discovered dead in early December after he had gone missing in Utah.

This tragedy occurred after his car had been found abandoned on a remote highway, with a number of crucial personal belongings in it, the previous week.

On New Year’s Day, she reflected this in an Instagram post. “2015 brought my sweet, baby girl but it also took my brother's life. Hoping for no extreme highs and lows this year. Happy new year, everyone.”

A veteran of such reality TV hits as ‘Laguna Beach’ and ‘The Hills’, Cavallari married her NFL-playing husband in 2013, having initially broken off their engagement in 2011 for four months.
