'Montage of Heck', a documentary about Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, will be released in May
Both the film and book will be entitled ‘Montage of Heck’, a name taken from a mixtape that Cobain made and which was shared widely online last year. The documentary, directed by Brett Morgen and overseen by the singer’s daughter Frances Bean Cobain, will be broadcast on HBO in May, with copies arriving in British cinemas shortly afterwards. It’s due to make its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival later this month.
Earlier this week, Morgen revealed that Cobain’s widow Courtney Love had been extremely co-operative, and had given him “the keys to this kingdom and final cut of the film”. This would seem to dispel rumours circulating at the end of last year that Love was unhappy with her lack of influence over the project.
