Kylie Minogue celebrated her return to the music business by playing a secret show at The Old Blue Last pub in Shoreditch this week. The 45-year-old - now under new management - is back with a new album and fresh new sound and she played to a packed audience which included "dozens of drag queens" in London, according to the Evening Standard.

In the end, it was less of a Kylie concert and more of raucous evening of entertainment hosted by the Australian artist - who is currently judging on the BBC's The Voice. She performed three songs before running bingo and karaoke sessions.

Her new album Kiss me Once, out next month, will be her 12th studio album and her first in four years.

"I must be okay after my break-up. Yes, I was very sad for a while, as you are, but now I think distraction is a good tonic," Minogue told the Standard, referencing her split from Spanish model Andres Velencoso.

"It wasn't a nasty break-up by any means. I feel like I'm coming out of it. There has been a lot of changes.

"I'm trying to accept, embrace and move on. I'm in good spirits and I recognise I'm in good spirits. Normally you don't do that.

"You know what I feel like? I'm riding the wave. And last year was paddling, paddling, not quite getting there."

Minogue says she plans to tour the new album though admits it will be less extravagant than her flamboyant run of shows for her Aphrodite record.

"I think Aphrodite was great but you couldn't put more bells and whistles on it. Then I did the Anti Tour which was totally stripped back, so now I will probably find the middle ground. Streamlined," she explained.

Kylie Minogue's new album Kiss Me Once is set for release on March 14, 2013.
