The Edge of Seventeen Trailer

Nadine is a junior in high school and she's never been the popular girl, she's quite, intelligent and an introvert and relies on her best friend, Krista, as the only source of company that she really enjoys - all this is in stark contrast to her elder brother, Darian who's one of the most popular kids in the school.

Even when Nadine was growing up, she never thought much to herself and let her become the school laughing stock; matters were not helped after making a few BIG style errors that left her looking a little too much like Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite. Since then, Nadine has grown out her short hair style and is somewhat more comfortable with herself.

Nadine's crush has just got out of Juvenile detention and to her, he's perfect and Nadine doesn't know is that Krista has a crush too, on none other than Nadine's brother Darian. This situation becomes all too apparent when Nadine finds Krista and Darian in bed together. Completely dumbfounded by the revelation, Nadine can't believe that her best friend has fallen for her brother, someone she sees as the total opposite of herself.

George is a man whose life has turned upside down. With no possessions and no home, George lives on the streets of New York. His only family is his estranged daughter. Left with no other choice, George seeks sanctuary from the elements at Bellevue Hospital. Surrounded by other men all in similar situations to himself - and often much worse, there's little respite.

Living in squalid conditions, the only good thing that seems to be happening to George is he finds friendship with a fellow resident, Dixon. With a little help, George begins to get his life - or at least his mental state - back on track all part of a long process to mend his fractured relationship with his daughter.

Time Out Of Mind stars Richard Gere in an almost unrecognisable role. Gere recently admitted that when he was shooting scenes for the movie out on the streets, only two people recognised him and left him feeling invisible. He has since met with NYC Mayor to speak about the homeless problem the city faces.

Kill Your Darlings Review

Very Good

Even though it's slightly too mannered, this true drama takes a clever approach to the beat poets long before they were famous. It's also packed with shocking twists and unnerving details that help us get emotionally involved in the story. And while the complexity of the approach kind of leaves us on the outside, sensitive performances help us see beneath the surface.

Set in 1943, the film centres on Allen Ginsburg (Radcliffe), who has been encouraged by his poet father (Cross) and needy mother (Leigh) to attend Columbia in New York. There he befriends the transgressive writer Lucien Carr (DeHaan), whose secret mentor-boyfriend David (Hall) is actually writing his coursework. Through Lucien, Allen is introduced to the druggy lifestyle of intense artist William Burroughs (Foster) and rugged womaniser Jack Kerouac (Huston). And together they decide to change the world. Then a shocking murder alters the dynamic between these young men.

The film's title is age-old advice to artists: you have to get rid of the people closest to you if you want to truly express yourself. And of course the fatal plot twist is an ironic exploration of this idea, as the film delves into shadowy corners of artistic anarchy, drug use and sexuality. (Radcliffe's notorious gay sex scene is strikingly well-played and pivotal in Allen's journey.) Filmmaker Kokidas infuses each scene with dark artistry: the actors look achingly cool even when they're wallowing in a trashy, immaculately production-designed drug den.
