Lady GaGa has officially confirmed that she will be headlining the 2017 Super Bowl half-time show, following reports over the last few weeks that she was on the verge of landing the prestigious gig.

The 30 year singer, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, is about to release her fourth studio album Joanne in October. As part of its promotion, she’s landed arguably the most-watched television spot in the business, with hundreds of millions around the world tuning in every year to the Super Bowl.

Gaga revealed via a series of Instagram posts on Thursday afternoon (September 29th) that she had signed up to perform at the half-time show on February 5th next year in Houston.

Gaga has previous experience of the showcase event, of course, garnering a lot of praise for her rendition of the national anthem at the last Super Bowl back in February this year.

The singer told the NFL’s official website at the time: “I've always wanted to sing the National Anthem at a major sporting event since I was a little girl, and for it to be the Super Bowl, it is the ultimate,” before adding “this is one of the highest honours of my career.”
