Lady GaGa played her most intimate London show to date in the early hours of Saturday morning when she made a surprise appearance at Hackney’s Moth Club. Word that Gaga might be showing up at the former working men's club spread on social media hours before and lucky fans in attendance were treated to a special, if brief, once in a lifetime performance.

Gaga has been in London since Thursday night promoting her new single ‘Perfect Illusion’. Eager fans who turned up at the Moth Club in the hope that she would appear were also treated to a two hour long DJ set from Mark Ronson as they waited for Gaga to take the stage.

At around 1.25am the singer appeared after being introduced by drag queen and DJ Jodie Harsh, who had done her best Gaga look for the evening. The US pop star was dressed in a pair of silver hot pants and a revealing grey cropped top, which at some points rose up to reveal tape over her breasts.

She performed new single ‘Perfect Illusion’ before sitting down at a keyboard for a slowed-down version of 2008 hit ‘Bad Romance’. She then danced to her first single ‘Just Dance’, before exiting as Ronson played his hit ‘Uptown Funk’.

Earlier in the day Gaga had appeared on Nick Grimshaw’s Radio One Breakfast Show where she revealed she was feeling so nervous about her new single she wanted to pop out for a cigar. “I get anxiety sometimes and my record is out today and I needed to have a moment alone,” she said.

“I will quit when I start to do TV and stuff, but I try to look at things in perspective.” It’s a habit that Gaga’s been urged to quit by her mentor Tony Bennett and legends Stevie Wonder and Elton John, who want her to think about her vocal chords.

“I know it's terrible," she admitted. "I have been yelled at by Elton, Stevie Wonder, Tony Bennett, the list could go on of amazing, great people who are like, 'You need to stop smoking.' But I don't smoke cigarettes. I smoke clove cigars."
