Lady GaGa has declared - as if we didn't know it already - her admiration for Tony Bennett. Speaking in a recent interview to promote their upcoming album 'Cheek to Cheek', Gaga claimed Bennett had saved her life earlier this year.
Infamously eccentric Lady Gaga and smooth aged crooner Tony Bennett may appear to make unlikely friends, but in recent interviews the two have expressed their great affection for one another and close bond. The pair first met in 2010 and, after releasing a rendition of 'The Lady Is a Tramp' back in 2011, decided to create an album of Jazz covers together entitled Cheek to Cheek.

28-year-old Gaga, speaking in an interview with Parade, claimed the songs she and Bennett have covered are timeless. In an interview with the Telegraph, the Artpop singer said the album's songs are "meant to be sung till the end of time." She further explained how the album reflects the nature of her and Bennett's relationship, stating "Cheek to Cheek is the most simple and most beautiful way you can describe this [Gaga and Bennett's] relationship. Nothing matters except that we are together and we are having a conversation with jazz."
Gaga also revealed (in Parade) she had a difficult time emotionally earlier this year when she found it hard to trust people and how her fame had affected how those close to her responded. She said "I'm not going to say any names, but people get irrational when it comes to ¬money -with how they treat you, with what they expect from you. But if you help an artist, it doesn't give you the right, once the artist is big, to take advantage of them." She further emphasised the emotional impact, stating "I was so sad. I couldn't sleep. I felt dead." She even added "I didn't even want to sing anymore."

However, it seemed Bennett was there for Gaga throughout and helped her through the dark times. Gaga said "I spent a lot of time with Tony. He wanted nothing but my friendship and my voice," adding and speaking directly to her collaborator, "It meant a lot to me, Tony. I don't have many people I can relate to."
Cheek to Cheek is due to be released on 23rd September. The album features covers of various famous Jazz songs, which 88-year-old Bennett frequently performed, and continues to perform, throughout his long and prolific career. The songs include Irving Berlin's 'Cheek to Cheek' and 'Let's Face the Music and Dance'; Duke Ellington's 'Sophisticated Lady'; and Cole Porter's 'Anything Goes'.
