British rapper Lady Sovereign's mother has been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour.
The star - real name Louise Harman - was devastated to learn her mum Nicola has just months to live, and decided to appear on the U.K. reality show Celebrity Big Brother to cheer up the 43 year old.
The So Human hitmaker is currently competing in the programme, which sees a group of stars locked in a house together.
Lady Sovereign's sister Chloe says, "Louise has gone into Big Brother to make Mum proud of her because she only has months to live. Mum's stuck in her bed now and finds it difficult to talk sometimes. Mum has the telly on every night to watch Louise.
"Her face lights up when she sees her and you know she's thinking, 'That's my girl.' It's a great comfort to her.
"It sounds silly but it really helps her get to know Louise better, because there she's just being herself and not having to react to Mum's illness. Mum looks forward to it - it's the one thing that brightens up her day. It's like it gives her a window on Louise's world, which hasn't been easy over the years as she's often been abroad."
