The cult show creator has been speaking about the success of four specials earlier this year
Cult hit show The Gilmore Girls returned to our screens via Netflix late last year for four much-hyped 90 minute-long episodes. The sitcom - which originally finished airing in 2007 - was met with praise for the Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life Of and now, creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, has revealed what it would take to revive the show once again.
Lauren Graham revived the role of Lorelai Gilmore late last year
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Sherman- Palladino said there would need to be an "open bar" as well as the "right" story and format.
Earlier this year, Handmaid’s Tale actress Alexis Bledel - who played Rory in the US show, alongside Lauren Graham who played her mother, Lorelai - said she hadn’t "heard anything" about the future of the show despite confirmation talks with Netflix about more episodes have been had.
Now Sherman-Palladino has spoken again about the possibility of revisiting the infamous mother and daughter duo.
Will Alexis Bledel play Rory Gilmore again?
She said: "The thing about Gilmore Girls is, it’s an amorphous thing.
"The reason that it happened the first time is because we all went to that Austin [ATX] Festival and we all sat together and there was an open bar and we were all sitting there saying, 'It feels good now, let’s do it now.'
"I think it would have to be a similar situation. There would have to be an open bar and we would have to have the right story and the right format and it would have to be a time where the girls and us all felt like, ‘Yeah, let’s dive in again.'"
"There’s nothing being planned right now but it’s open if the muse strikes," she confirmed.
Earlier this year, Lauren Graham - who starred in movie Bad Santa following her portrayal of one half of the Gilmore Girls - said she would play the character "until my dying day".
