R&B singer Lauryn Hill thrilled fans in her native New Jersey on Sunday (02Sep12) by joining rapper Nas onstage at hip-hop music festival Rock The Bells.
The reclusive singer has become more famous for her financial and tax issues than her music in recent months, but the former Fugees star put aside her troubles and surprised the crowd by interrupting Nas' set at the Pnc Bank Arts Center to revamp their 1996 collaboration If I Ruled the World (Imagine That).
The 37 year old also performed a collection of her classic hits, including Doo Wop (That Thing) and Lost Ones, and she later addressed her devotees, shouting, "Jersey! I have been gone for a long time but I'm back again. Love you. Miss you."
The two-day festival began on Saturday (01Sep12) and also featured sets from DMX and Eve, Jadakiss, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Ice Cube, Method Man & Redman and Slaughterhouse.
