Naya Rivera has been fired from Glee, according to reports alleging that the singer and actress' feud with co-star Lea Michele lead to her being cut from the rest of the fifth season. 27 year-old Rivera's contract with the musical TV drama has reportedly not been renewed for the sixth season.

Plenty of conflicting reports are coming through concerning Naya Rivera’s alleged termination from Fox’s hit musical series Glee. The actress has supposedly ‘been written out of Glee’s fifth season finale’, when she had originally been set to star in the episode, titled ‘The Rachel Berry Project.’  Rachel Berry is the character played by Lea Michele in the show.

100 episodes in, the New Directions are under threat and it’s time for a Glee reunion. It’s also apparently time to dig up the oldest story lines from the original ND class, so that Ryan Murphy and Co. can show just how much the characters have not progressed since high school. The songs were good though, so we’ll let them off the hook.

They had to be good. Not only was this the 100^th episode of the Fox show, it was also a chance to pay Finn Hudson (and, by extension, Cory Monteith) one final farewell, it mostly consisted of the cast revisiting old favorites. Two things should come to mind when you read that – Brittany’s Britney Spears hallucination extravaganza and, of course, the one and only, that age-old Glee favorite – Defying Gravity. Both were revisited in the very first fifteen minutes, of course. The Britney act was a sort of Tango-meets-Toxic-meets-burlesque mashup performed by the Unholy Trinity – Britney, Santana and a holier-than-thou Quinn, relishing the chance to get back to her misfit roots. Cool. Great. Seen it before.

The Sia-penned 'Cannonball' has already proved to be a hit online, with live versions of the song amassing nearly one million views alone, but is currently a sleeper on the charts, only rising as high as No. 75 on the US Billboard Hot 100, although that figure is expected to rise once the video and album has been released.

Five months after the untimely death of actor Cory Monteith, his Glee co-star and girlfriend both on and off screen Lea Michele has finally opened up about the passing and explained how she has coped with her grief. Appearing on The Ellen Degeneres Show this week, the actress told Ellen that she has been slowly moving on from the passing, as that is what Cory would have wanted her to do.

In spite of her grief, Michele told Ellen that she knew she couldn't dwell on Monteith's passing because it would bring her too far down. Instead she has focused all her energy on her career as she tries to do her best for Cory, to do his memory right.

Dancing With the Stars crowd its newest winner on Tuesday, 26 November, with Glee actress Amber Riley emerging victorious from the pack of hopeful celebrities. Lea Michele has opened up about how co-star Kate Hudson took care of her during the days following the death of her on and off-screen boyfriend Cory Monteith.

It's been almost four months since the 31-year-old 'Glee' star was discovered dead in his hotel room following an overdose, and his partner Lea has been forced to stay strong in the face of the prying media. It hasn't been easy, however, as avoiding reporters was almost impossible in the wake of the incident and so she was forced to ring her trusted friend Kate Hudson who was only too happy to help.

"I called her and said, I don't know where I'm going to go because my house is swarmed [with reporters]" Lea told Elle in an interview for their December issue. "She was like, 'Oh, you're going to stay at my house'. Like it was nothing."

On Thursday, 10 October, Cory Monteith was remembered by those who perhaps knew him better than anyone else, as he and his character, Finn Hudson, was remembered in an emotional tribute episode of the Fox musical-comedy. The long-awaited episode came early into the latest season of Glee, which was pushed back a week in order to accomodate the passing of Monteith and in preparation for the memorial episode, The Quarterback.

The handling of the episode has been in discussion since it was announced that series creator Ryan Murphy was planning on making a tribute episode, and last night viewers got to see how delicately the show's writers and cast said farewell to their departed singing quarterback. There was no shortage of emotion, as Finn was written out of the show too, but rather than dwelling on his death the episode reflected on the aftermath of his passing, and featured no funeral or dramatisation of Finn's death. This gave the writers a chance to not disclose how Finn died, but made his death a real experience nonetheless.

Glee creator Ryan Murphy has said the show will go on following the death of Cory Monteith, who starred in the comedy-musical series as Finn. After a long period of silence on the tragic event, Glee creator Ryan Murphy has finally spoken out on Cory Monteith’s death and the fate of the show from now on. Murphy explained that Monteith had been like a son to him and that the decision of whether to stop filming Glee out of respect or continue out of duty, had been one of the most difficult in the showrunner’s career.

The death of Cory Monteith, whose body was discovered in a Vancouver hotel room on Saturday, has devastated his friends and co-stars, according to sources. The Mirror reports that Monteith’s fiancée, Lea Michele, who plays his character’s on-off girlfriend Rachel Berry on Fox’s Glee, was said to be “absolutely hysterical and completely inconsolable”. Michele had been busy planning the wedding when she received the news.

Cory Monteith, known internationally for his role as Finn Hudson in Fox's popular musical drama Glee, was found dead by hotel staff after he failed to check out of a Vancouver room, according to USA Today. Melissa Kates, Monteith's publicist, confirmed the 31 year-old's death: "We are so saddened to confirm that the reports on the death of Cory Monteith are accurate. We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss."

It is not yet known what led to Monteith's untimely death but Monteith had been a lead cast member on Glee since the musical series launched in 2009, playing Finn Hudson - a football player who joins his high school's glee club choir, New Directions. The Calgary-born actor checked into the hotel on 6th July and was scheduled to check out on Saturday (13th July). When he failed to do so, the hotel staff were alerted and discovered his body when they went to check the room. Vancouver Acting Police Chief Doug LePard announced that Monteith was found alone: "An autopsy is scheduled for Monday. The Coroner will be determining the next steps with respect to establishing cause of death, but all indications are that there was no foul play."

Fox’s musical dramedy series Glee has been renewed and will join returning shows like Bones and The Following on the network’s roster. Not only that, but Glee has been renewed for a fifth and sixth season, meaning we can expect the Lea Michele starrer back in 2014 as well. "Glee debuted as the first and only successful musical comedy series on television, and more than four years later, it continues to defy genres, break new ground and have a significant impact on popular culture,” Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly said in a statement announcing the news on Friday. “Week in and week out, Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, Ian Brennan, Dante DiLoreto and the entire Glee team deliver a series that not only delights and surprises fans, but also inspires them to talk about, share, debate and engage with the show - and I’m absolutely thrilled to have them on board for another two seasons.”

Back in January, Reilly dropped a hint that the network might be renewing Glee for more than one season, by saying: "We're going to negotiate now for the fifth season and beyond."

The decision makes sense for Fox, since Glee – as loved and hated by audiences as it may be – is one of the network’s top performers in terms of ratings. It has performed especially well in its new Thursday 9PM slot and the writers have covered topics oriented toward a more mature audience, like in last week’s school shooting themed episode. It will be interesting what direction the writing team decide to take now, with the possibility of developing story arcs over the next two seasons.

Taylor Swift and The Wanted were undoubtedly the biggest names to take home People's Choice Awards last night at the 39th annual version of the event. The entirely fan-voted for awards saw Taylor Swift take home the Favorite Country Artist gong, though she once again found herself in a 'Kanye' situation as Olivia Munn initially refused to give her the statuette. Rachel and Finn have had a very tumultuous relationship in Glee, to say the least. But in real life the actors who play both those characters have a dream-like relationship. 

Lea Michele (Rachel) and Cora Monteith (Finn) have been dating for months but they only unveiled the news publicly on Ellen, to its host Ellen Degeneres. Ellen asked him about 'Monchele' and what it means. He replied "Well, of course I know what Monchele is... it's Monteith and Michele... Yeah [we are a couple]." Despite both looking as though they're in high school, like their famous Glee characters, Michele is in fact 26 while Cory is 30, and it's right about time for a grown-up relationship. Michele is gracing the cover of Marie Claire this month in which she has spoken about her relationship with Cory. "I don't even remember a time when he wasn't my boyfriend. No one knows me better than Cory," quotes NY Daily News. "No one knows what it's been like to go through this more than he does. Feeling like you have that net underneath you allows you to jump higher and go farther... He makes me feel like I can do anything. For the first time in my life, I feel really, really settled and happy. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world."

We’ve all seen Lea Michele belting them out as one of the main stars of hit musical drama Glee, but now the actress is planning on proving that she can do it as a standalone artist. That’s right, the star has revealed via Twitter that she is going to be preparing her debut album for release!

Taking to the social networking site, Michele wrote "Just had a very exciting music meeting and am proud to announce that im officially on the road to making my first album! I'm so excited!" Following up, she added "There's so much to be thankful for right now. Feeling so blessed and thankful. And I couldn't do it without all of you! Love you guys!"

Michele’s singing has been among the highlights of Glee during its three season run, and the announcement comes just as the fourth is beginning. The new season sees all of the main character spread about the US after graduating from high school, and Michele commented to MTV "You basically have the kids who have graduated and their story lines, as well as the kids back in high school." She added "I think it'll be really great because it gives us the opportunity for the characters who have been on the show for a while to move on and to start new story lines, but then the kids who are newer on the show will get to continue on."
