Glee's latest episode 'Tina in the Sky with Diamonds' aired last night. The second in The Beatles tribute episodes introduced Demi Lovato as a special guest star and, at the McKinley High prom, saw one of the cast crowned prom queen.
The Beatles, prom and a new character are thrown into the mix in the latest episode of Glee. The Beatles themed episode, entitled Tina in the Sky With Diamonds, sees Tina battling it out for the title of prom queen; Demi Lovato joining the cast in a special guest role; and Rachel receiving some good news.
Lea Michele plays Rachel Berry in Glee.
It's prom time at McKinley High and Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) is determined to take the prom Queen crown! Although she successfully gains the grown, it's not before Dotti Kazatori (encouraged by Bree, played by Erinn Westbrook) throws a bucket of red slushies over her. However, The New Directions quickly jump into action, cleaning Tina up.
Meanwhile the three former New Direction members camped out in New York are joined by Demi Lovato. Lovato stars as Dani, a singing waitress who gets up close and personal with Santana (Naya Rivera) after performing 'Here Comes the Sun'. Romance is also in the air when Sam meets the student school nurse Penny Owen (Phoebe Strole).
Chris Colfer stars as Kurt Hummel.
Rachel Berry (Lea Michele), after spending most of the episode feeling bleak about her career prospects, has some good news after gaining the role of Fanny Brice (played on screen by her idol Barbara Streisand) in the musical Funny Girl. Champagne is opened in the loft in order to celebrate. Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer) joins her as the two were previously seen performing a duet to cheer up a forlorn Rachel.
Next week's episode is the tribute to Cory Monteith. It seems the episode, entitled The Quarterback, will show the reaction of the cast to the death of Finn Hudson (played by Monteith). Monteith died in July of a lethal mix of heroin and alcohol; however this will not be referenced in the show, according to interviews with Glee creator Ryan Murphy.
