Len Wiseman is in talks to direct 'Die Hard 6'.

The 'Total Recall' filmmaker is in negotiations with 20th Century Fox and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura to direct the upcoming sixth instalment in the action franchise, 'Die Hard: Year One'.

Bruce Willis - who has starred as troubled detective John McLane in all five 'Die Hard' films - is expected to reprise his role once again although the sixth film will reportedly focus on the origins of his character and will be set in New York City in 1979.

According to Deadline.com, the plan is for Willis - who worked with di Bonaventura on 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation' and the fourth 'Die Hard' film, 'Live Free or Die Hard' - to play a present-day version of McClane.

It's also been suggested a different actor could take on the role of the younger version of Willis' character as in Rian Johnson's 2012 film 'Looper', Joseph Gordon-Levitt played a young Joe while Willis played the older version of the same character.

However, now that Wiseman is on board, he and Bonaventura are still said to be looking for a screenwriter to bring the prequel-style project to life.
