With the fourth season of 'Girls' set to debut of 11th January, the cast and various celebrities arrived at the New York première for the series.
The American Museum of Natural History in New York was the sight of something pretty spectacular on 5th January 2015. And no, it wasn't because Ben Stiller was running around at night with a magical tablet and entourage of historical waxworks that look oddly like famous film stars. The Museum was, however, the location for the premiere for season four of HBO's 'Girls'.
As well as the majority of the main cast, the premiere saw members of the supporting cast and various additional celebrities arriving to support the premiere. In addition to Dunham, Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet and Adam Driver posing on the red carpet and with one another, 'Mad Men''s Jon Hamm and 'Star Trek''s Zachary Quinto also made an appearance. The event was similar to the way in which the premiere for season three took place at The Lincoln Centre in Manhattan and also saw a string on celebrities checking in to show support.

Lena Dunham cancelled her book tour over the sexual abuse allegations.
Lena Dunham, the creator of Girls who recently published her memoir Not That Kind of Girl, has denied allegations that she sexually abused her sister Grace. Kevin D. In one excerpt, Dunham wrote, "Do we all have uteruses?' I asked my mother when I was seven. 'Yes,' she told me. 'We're born with them, and with all our eggs, but they start out very small. And they aren't ready to make babies until we're older.'"

Lena Dunham and Scarlett Johannson have weighed in on Dylan Farrow's sexual abuse allegations against her father, Woody Allen.
When Dylan Farrow published an open letter concerning her father, Woody Allen, reiterating her claims that he sexually abused her, Hollywood didn’t really know how to react. Allen was in the midst of praise for his latest movie Blue Jasmine, for which Cate Blanchett would go on to win the Oscar, and Allen’s career was at its zenith.
Woody Allen, seen here with his one time step-daughter, now wife, Soon-Yi, always maintains his innocence
Yet it wasn’t so easy to ignore Farrow’s claims this time round. The first time the accusations had been made she was a child and Allen had ultimately not been charged with any crime, despite the case being investigated by prosecutors. But this time there was a 28 year old woman making the claims, eloquently and clearly she once again repeated the accusations she had made against Allen as a child, this time with her own adult analysis. Farrow asks in her letter “What if it had been your child, Cate Blanchett? Louis CK? Alec Baldwin? What if it had been you, Emma Stone? Or you, Scarlett Johansson? You knew me when I was a little girl, Diane Keaton. Have you forgotten me?”

Last month Dylan Farrow, the adopted daughter of the famed director, published an open letter in the NY Times, detailing how she was sexually abused by Allen at 7 years-old.
The family debacle has caused a media frenzy, but most people within the industry have kept their views and thoughts quite on the matter.

What were our favourite bits from Lena Dunham's keynote speech at this year's SXSW?
Lena Dunham’s keynote speech at SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, reinforced precisely why we love her. She may have her critics out there who are more than ready to pounce on everything that she says and does, but our girl Lena has her head screwed on and a pretty accurate outlook on the equally opportunities landscape.
Dunham was a keynote speaker at SXSW 2014
At 27 years old, Lena is already famed as the creator of hit HBO sitcom Girls, but she claims that she has a real soft spot for SXSW as it “marks the beginning of [her] life as a working artist”. Lena recalled how her first cut of short film Creative Nonfiction was rejected by the festival, but after a few edits on her part they finally accepted it. She claims that the festival “proved to be the greatest week of my life...I ate tacos. I drank milkshakes. I swam in Barton Springs. I drank a beer at a backyard rock show and talked to cute guys who would’ve never given me the time of day in New York.”

What did the critics make of Lena Dunham's hosting stint on Saturday Night Live, which aired on International Women's Day?
So, reviews for Lena Dunham’s stint hosting Saturday Night Live have been a very mixed bag. While her sitcom Girls has been met with international acclaim, Lena also has her fair share of critics out there. Particularly those who slam the 27 year old for her regular nudity on Girls and, well, pretty much every other appearance she does. Her SNL hosting job last Saturday to mark International Women’s Day was no exception.
Funny woman Lena Dunham hosted last weekend's Saturday Night Live
The highlight for us, and many others who reviewed the sketch show, had to be the ‘Biblical Movie‘ sketch. Appearing as Eve, Lena characteristically wears no clothes, alongside SNL’s Taran Killam, who played Adam (Driver). Genius. The result was a smorgasbord of feminism, while Lena also customarily poked fun at herself (appearing surrounded by decimated apples).

Has HBO's Sex and the City become dated? Does their new sitcom Girls more accurately capture the modern mood?
Sex and the City meant glamour. Each week young women would tune in to watch Carrie hobble through New York donning a pair of skyscraper Manolo Blahnik shoes, climbing in and out of Big’s chauffeur driven car and working her way through the most eligible men in the city. The gal pals would meet over their Cosmopolitan cocktails to swap stories about their fabulous lives while the girls would drop what they were doing at a moment’s notice if each other were in need, because, in the immortal words of Carrie: “our girlfriends are our soulmates and guys are just people to have fun with”.
Sex and the City remains one of the most popular shows of all time.
Fast forward ten years, since the end of the sitcom and we find ourselves with a new female oriented show to contend with SATC. Like Carrie, Girls' Hannah is a writer, living in New York City, figuring out life and love along with her girl friends who are of similar age. It would be easy to say that the 10 year age gap between Hannah and her pals and Carrie and hers can be held responsible for the fundamental differences in the two shows, but despite outward similarities they are still worlds apart.

Jenna Lyons' cameo in Girls may be our favourite ever, but why has it come at a significant time?
Who else let out a squeal of delight when J.Crew Creative Director Jenna Lyons popped up as Hannah’s GQ editor in HBO sitcom, Girls? Jenna is one of the baddest fashion gals about, and has never been afraid to take risks in every walk of her life (one of the main reasons we love her so much). Jenna has previously admitted that she is a fan of Girls, explaining that even though she receives over 200 emails a day she still manages to keep up to date with episodes of the hit show.
Lyons admitted she is a fan of the HBO sitcom, Girls
Lyons first met show creator, Lena Dunham, at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards when Lena accepted an award she had won and took the chance to publicly (and jokingly) thank Jenna for making her wear shorts. Jenna went up to Lena after the dinner and apologised after which the two made fast friends and have maintained a closeness since.

Lena Dunham continues to show her naked body on television despite criticism.
As you may have gathered from my previous GIRLS article, I’m a big fan of the show. It’s a fairly accurate depiction of life for a modern 20-something, a life that the older generation can’t seem to grasp when they constantly ask why most of us are still unemployed or earning practically peanuts in our mid-twenties.
There's been much debate over Lena Dunham's nudity in HBO hit show, GIRLS
Unlike HBO’s last female-centric hit show, Sex and the City, where each of the characters lived glamorous and envious lifestyles, attending constant nightclub openings wearing Manolo Blahnik’s and Dior, GIRLS is realistic. Sex and the City embodied the late 90‘s girl power ethos, revving women up to be either strong, sexual-predator-come-PR-guru, Samantha Jones or stick-thin, designer-wardrobe-wearing Carrie with her famous column advertised on the side of a New York bus. In comparison to the Cosmopolitan-swilling Sex and the City, GIRLS is like comfort food, reassuring but not always easy to digest.
A look at the lead characters from HBO hit sitcom, GIRLS, to help you figure out which character you are most like.
GIRLS isn’t just a program. It’s become a reassurance that life isn’t necessarily going to be perfect in your mid-twenties, an idea that we all fostered throughout our turbulent teens. Sure, the characters are (mostly) functioning human beings, but in their individual ways they are all dealing with problems which have become all too real for 20 somethings in the modern world.
Which Member of the Girls Cast Are You?
There’s definitely a little bit in each of the characters that we can all relate to, but maybe there’s one that really makes you really think, Oh my God, that’s so me! Here’s a low-down on each of the girls, and a couple of the guys, to help you figure out which GIRLS character you are.

The Girls creator's book will be out in October
It’s finally here, or at least that’s how Lena Dunham put it when she announced that her highly anticipated book, Not That Kind of Girl, is set to be released on October 7, 2014.
The popular actor, write, director and basically everything-it-takes-to-get-something-done-er announced the news via her widely-followed Instagram account, following that up with a little Tweet to send her fans in the right direction. This, of course, was met with a tidal wave of excitement from the legions of dedicated Dunham-ites that follow her every move.

[Spoilers] Hannah takes a new job as a copywriter but as usual, is not satisfied.
It's easy to see whilst having built up an army of ardent fans, HBO's Girls has simultaneously accrued a league of haters, frustrated with the cyclical themes and character ruts that endear some but infuriate others. The sixth episode of the third season was business as usual for the perpetually dissatisfied and selfish Hannah, the skittish Shoshanna, and the painfully awkward pairing of Marnie and Ray.
'Free Snacks' Brings More Career-Related Soul-Searching For Hannah.
Hannah starts a new job as an advertorial copywriter at GQ magazine - "It looks like a real article so they trick you into reading it, and then you find out it's a paid advertisement. Which is both morally and creatively bankrupt" - but after stuffing her fill of the magazine's free snack bar, she decides that taking the job would detract from her loftier goals in writing.
Spoiler: David is dead. So are basic human emotions.
By now everyone knows that the HBO vehicle is essentially a weekly half hour of privileged people running around, complaining about problems that aren’t really problems and everyone, who isn’t interested in that has switched the channel. Even so, last night’s episode, Dead Inside, managed to alienate even the diehard fans. If you haven’t seen Season 3, Episode 4, beware of spoilers.
Dear Lena Dunham, we hope you're doing the sarcastic, self-aware thing.
So, it turns out that sometimes, the girls do have actual real person problems – the sudden and unexpected death of Hannah’s editor David would count as such. When it happens, the gang respond with less of what you might call “actual human emotions” and more of a “Most Self-Involved” contest.

It wasn't the best birthday, nor the best episode in the series.
For teenagers and 20-somethings, Lena Dunham’s Girls is a welcome, constant reminder that you can never really figure out life. After last week’s hilarious episode, this week’s "She Said OK" takes on a much less exciting tone when Hannah turns 25 and everybody else seems to be having the quarter life crisis. Proceed with caution, spoilers ahead.
The girls continue to struggle with that most middle-class of problems - the quarter life crisis.
While Adam and Hannah’s relationship is once again strained – this time by a visit from Adam’s completely crazy, but possibly abused sister, Caroline – Marnie is having the most intense phone call of her life. See, her budding career as a pop star (remember when that happened last season) has resulted in a hilariously terrible faux-90s music video, in which she twirls her pigtails, wears a lot of eyeliner and sings the line “Religion is the smile of a dog.”
Lena Dunham has gone for the Mindy Kaling approach to criticism.
More and more attention has been brought to magazines’ rampant retouching of stars on their covers – Melissa McCarthy, Gabourey Sidibe, Mindy Kaling and even Jennifer Lawrence have been retouched beyond recognition in recent months. The most recent victim of this trend is Lena Dunham, who graces the cover of this month’s Vogue.
The creator of Girls was confused by the backlash against her Vogue shots.
The situation is made even more complicated by the fact that Dunham advocates and writes about body positivity and self acceptance. It’s no surprise then, that her edited cover made a big splash online.
Golden Globes successes brought Oscar nominations speculation this week as movie awards overshadow all other news.
Golden Globes Glory: Last weekend's Golden Globe awards set hearts racing ahead of March's Oscars with plenty of deserving winners next to a few jaw-dropping snubs. 12 Years A Slave predictably came out on top with the big gong but a few unpredictabilities set award odds and Oscars speculation askew. Newbie comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine saw off rivals to claim two awards whilst Blue Jasmine's Cate Blanchett took the leading lady award alongside Dallas Buyers Club's for the men.
Gravity's Alfonso Cuarón stole Best Director from Steve McQueen whilst Breaking Bad and Behind The Candelabra snatched the big TV awards. The surprise wins also made for some truly memorable speeches too, with Elisabeth Moss exclamation of "Oh s**t!" and Jacqueline Bisset's sweary ramble marking two particular highlights. Producers of the hit comedy series girls have defended the right of their actors to appear naked during the show. One reporter questioned why Lena Dunham appears naked so frequently which caused the producers to go into a "rage spiral."
One member of the press will definitely not be interviewing Lena Dunham or the Girls producers again anytime soon. The Girls creator was faced with some impertinent questions about her frequent appearances in the nude during the show.

During a panel at the Television Critics Association press tour on Thursday (9th January), a reporter questioned Dunham her decision to appear nude on the show. The reporter questioned, according to The Huffington Post, the purpose of nudity in the show. He said "I don't get the purpose of all the nudity on the show, by [Dunham] in particular. I feel like I'm walking into a trap where you go, 'Nobody complains about all the nudity on Game of Thrones, but I get why they do it. They do it to be salacious and titillate people. And your character is often nude at random times for no reason."

The 'Girls' star chewed up a reporter at a press conference.
Lena Dunham took offence when a reporter at a press conference for the new series of comedy Girls asked why there was so much nudity in the show. In a knee-jerk reaction, Dunham, who both writes for and performs on the show, laid into the journalist at the Television Critics Press tour in Pasadena during which Girls was renewed for a fourth season.
Lena Dunham Scorches A Reporter For Mentioning Nudity In The TV Show, 'Girls.'
"I don't get the purpose of all the nudity on the show - by [Dunham] in particularly. I feel like I'm walking into a trap where you go, 'Nobody complains about all the nudity on Game of Thrones,' but I get why they do it. They do it to be salacious and titillate people. And your character is often nude at random times for no reason," the reporter remarked.
When a critic from The Wrap dared to question the show's nudity, he was soon the subject some serious grief
‘Girls’ is a good show. It’s a good, funny show with interesting ideas and a well-cast, talented crew on board. And you don’t even need to trust this humble staff writer’s opinion on that: it’s won tonnes of awards and shifted loads of DVDs.
Lena Dunham is happy and willing to do nude scenes
But there are two things that split opinions regarding the show: its lack of cultural diversity and the heavy slant on nudity. And both of those things came to the fore when critics posed questions to the Girls gang at a TCA session. It was the latter that has made the news.
Lena Dunham and producer for 'Girls' were answering reporters' questions on Thursday (January 9), when a reporter asked something they deemed inappropriate. But how they reacted was pretty unexpected.
If there is one thing you don't do, it's ask those involved with Girls about the show's nudity. Apparently.

The new season will pick up where we last left Hannah (Lena Dunham) and her circle of friends - played by Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet, Adam Driver and Alex Karpovsky - when it returns on 12 January, 2014.
The Girls girls have already found success with the series
It actually looks as though things are looking up for Hannah in the third season, having meetings with publishers and potentially making strides in her career at last. In the trailer, Hannah, Marnie (Williams), Shoshana (Mamet) and Jessa (Kirke) are each contemplating just how far they've come -or rather how far they haven't come- in the years since they graduated college. Nevertheless, it does seem as though things are finally starting to look up for the group, Hannah in particular.

Newcomers like 'House of Cards' and 'Master of Sex' replace the old guards like 'Mad Men' and 'Homefront' in the TV noms
The nominations for the 2014 Golden Globe Awards were revealed this week and although there were few surprises in the movie nominations; in the television categories however, it's time for change in the established order of critically-acclaimed TV. Former nomination regulars like Mad Men and Homefront are nowhere to be seen in the nominees lists, replaced instead by the new order of critically-acclaimed shows.
Master of Sex, along with House of Cards, is now the show to beat
Master of Sex and House of Cards now look like the shows to beat, with Breaking Bad making what will be its final appearance at the Golden Globes with the series ending this year. This comes just a year after Homeland achieved the impressive feat of winning Best Drama Series, Best Male Actor and Best Female Actor all in one night, although this does mark the second year in a row that the 2007-2009 winner Mad Men has not appeared in the Best Drama category.
'Girls' season 3 is coming, apparently.
Lena Dunham has surprised her scores of Instagram followers with what appears to be the first hint of the upcoming third season of the hit HBO comedy, Girls. The clip, captioned "A teaser of our teaser for @girlshbo! Officially drops Sunday..." is the first rumblings of new Girls action to accompany a slightly longer official teaser which will debut on TV this weekend, presumably ahead of a full-length trailer in January before the third season kicks off. Phew.
'Girls' Season 3 Is Coming!
Though Lena's clip is only 15 seconds long, including Adam complaining about Hannah's friends, Hannah getting her head stuck in a chair, and Hannah having therapy. It was eough to give us a flavour of what is to come during Hannah Horvath and Co.'s third outing but we instantly hungered for more.

Gaga is the cover star of December's 'Glamour' magazine, and the photo of her has been photoshopped like crazy
Lady GaGa stars as the front cover star of December's edition of Glamour magazine. In her feature interview, the star discusses her new album, her insecurities and beauty and body image in today's society, arguments that are kind of condescended against when you notice how photoshopped Gaga's picture is on the front of the magazine.
Gaga attended the event with her hair in a bunch, like the above photo, and an all-white suit
It turns out that Gaga was unwittingly photoshopped like mad for the cover picture, and in a show of defiance the singer has called out the magazine for doctoring her image so much. Gaga didn't just write a tweet or an open letter to dispute the image though, instead she went right to the source and called out the magazine in their own yard.
Finally, "Girls" has a porn parody. And Lena Dunham is definitely not happy about it.
It was bound to happen eventually – Lena Dunham’s hit HBO series Girls now has a porn parody. Rule 34 strikes again – namely that, if something exists, so does porn about it. The decision to, um, adapt Girls is a bit of a weird one though – since the show, written, directed and produced by Dunham, already has its fair share of nudity and sex scenes. Now before you go googling the thing – as we suspect most people reading this will do – be warned: it will get pretty weird. Adult film star Richie Calhoun, who plays lead character Hannah's boyfriend Adam in “This Ain’t Girls XXX” (not the best title by far) had this to say about the production to adult entertainment site xbiz.com: “I tried to make it as weird as possible. I tried to say really weird things and do really weird positions.”
The premise of the whole video is pretty simple. Hannah leaves Adam to experiment with homosexuality, but later returns to men. It doesn’t sound all that thrilling, but the shoddy premise probably isn’t the only reason for Lena Dunham’s disapproval. And the Girls creator certainly isn’t happy about the video’s existence, as she shared on Twitter this Thursday.
“I wish I had a better attitude about the Girls porn parody. I really can never predict what will trouble me and it's simply exhausting,” she commented via the social network.

Lena Dunham has plenty to say to her hero Sarah Jessica Parker.
What could possibly happen should Lena Dunham ever meet her hero Sarah Jessica Parker? That's what fans of the Girls star have asked themselves over the past year, but the waiting is finally up: the two women have finally met, at New York's Museum of Art's Costume Institute benefit gala on Monday night (May 6, 2013).
Dunham has made no secret of her love for Sex and the City or its influence on her award winning show. During an interview with TIME magazine, the writer and actress explained, "That was sort of the first thought was that Shoshanna [Zosia Mamet's character] would have moved to New York because of Sex in the City. And a lot of these girls, even Hannah who might make fun of the girl who wears the "I'm a Carrie" T-shirt, part of the reason she came to New York is clearly because she thought she was a Carrie. It's almost like not only is this a show that talks about Sex and the City, these are women who couldn't exist without Sex and the City."
So what happened when Dunham met Parker? Well, there was plenty of hugging, plenty of air-kissing and plenty of animated conversation. Dunham wore a slender black Erdem gown while Parker, 48, opted for a Giles Deacon satiny print gown with mohawk-style headdress.

TIME'S 100 Most Influential People In The World and other famous faces take to the red carpet at New York's Jazz at Lincoln Center.
Frank Ocean at the TIME 100 Gala in New York
It was the annual TIME 100 Gala on Tuesday night (April 23rd 2013) celebrating this year's most influential faces from world leaders to movie stars and the red carpet was full of stars waiting to congratulate the 2013 list.
Grammy winning superstar Christina Aguilera dazzled at Jazz at Lincoln Center, New York looking classy and much trimmer than she has been in recent months and making the TIME'S 100 Most Influential People In The World list in the Artists category. She was joined by 2013 Grammy and BRIT artist Frank Ocean who has dominated the R&B industry with his spectacular debut album 'Channel Orange' and his rather inspiring love life confessions. Talk show hosts Jimmy Fallon (of 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon') and Jimmy Kimmel (of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!') were also present, as was 'Breaking Bad' star Bryan Cranston whose crime drama has won him a Primetime Emmy. Lena Dunham landed a place in the Icons category for her comedy show 'Girls' which has won her a Golden Globe. Other honourees included Perry Chen, the founder of Kickstarter - a creative project fund-raising website, who reached the Pioneers list, and fashion designer Michael Kors who hit the list of influential Titans of the world.
Amid reports of disagreements with Lena Dunham, Christopher Abbott has announced that he won't be returning for the next season of Girls.
After reports recently started circulating that Christopher Abbott, who plays the character of Charlie on HBO’s Girls, wasn’t exactly getting along with the show’s creator Lena Dunham, the announcement has now been made that he will not be returning for Season 3. A source alleged: "They’ve just started work on Season 3, and Chris is at odds with Lena. He didn’t like the direction things are going in, which seems a bit odd since the show put him on the map."
Creative disagreements? It’s possible, but Abbott’s rep didn’t let anything slip in his statement, confirming the news: "(Chris) is grateful for the experience of collaborating with Lena, Judd (Apatow), and the entire ‘Girls’ cast and crew, but right now he’s working on numerous other projects and has decided not to return to the show.”
So what exactly are these other projects? A role on a rising HBO series seems like a cushy gig, so the actor must have something equally as exciting lined up, right? Well, his next film is the indie flick The Sleepwalker. Hardly a step up from Girls. Meanwhile, Lena Dunham didn’t seem the least bit fussed about the actor’s departure, and instead devoted her Twitter stream to praising the current It-girl of pop, Taylor Swift.
