Not too much has been given away about the latest series, but Dunham spoke to Access Hollywood recently about the progression of the show and the characters it revolves around. "I don't think it would be this show if any of them had a completely successful move toward adulthood, but it's definitely within their sights." She said.

Allison Williams, who plays Marnie Michaels, said: "It's hard to watch and it's hard to [perform it], but [progressing into adulthood is] an important thing that we all go through at some point," she said. "And it's kind of never over - that's the other thing. We're always growing, we're always changing... "It's really exciting just to know that hopefully we're gonna have the opportunity to just keep working. that's the best thing."

In other Lena Dunham news, as well as working on the latest series of her show, she signed a publishing contract for $3m late last year, so by the time season 2 ends, we'll definitely have her book to look forward to.

You can catch Girls season 2 on Sunday at 9pm, on HBO.
